I give up

Postby sotiredofthis » 29 Jun 2014, 16:29

Tomorrow I'm 9 weeks post LIS and skin tag removal and am still having the same burning pain when sitting as I was before surgery. I'm still taking a little Miralax and my bm's are not painful. I can see what looks like a split of the skin still on my anus where my fissure was. I guess that's not healing all the way. I'm beginning to think I'm the 5% that doesn't heal with this surgery.

I'm calling my CRS tomorrow and trying to get in as soon as I can. I don't want to talk to the nurse practitioner anymore. She's wonderful but I want to see the doctor. I have to work around child care for my little ones which makes that complicated.

Just so, so incredibly sick of all this!!!! :groan: :gah:

Sorry you are still having pain, sotiredof this. Most definitely see your CRS. I wish I had NEVER wasted time with a nurse practitioner who never even took the trouble to examine me when I was in spasm-ick pain. :smilyhug:

So, I saw my CRS today and she did a full exam. Thankfully it wasn't at all painful. The good news is that my fissure and incision site are all healed and I was not having any spasms at all!! :cheerleader: The bad news is she isn't sure why I'm still having the burning pain.

Last Thursday and Friday were pretty good days. I was able to sit with little to no pain. Even at my computer chair and in my car which are normally the worst. Saturday morning my bm was a little sticky and it required a little extra wiping which is a bit irritating. We took our girls to the zoo later and it was a tiny bit irritated but not too bad. It was not a hot day either. My husband and I were intimate  Saturday night and Sunday I had the burning pain again. I looked later that day and it looked red and inflamed again.

I don't know what's going on. :~!@: I started the cream my husband made up for me Sunday night. Today it still feels like it's chaffed and burning to me but my CRS couldn't find any redness today. I haven't looked since Monday so I don't know. I started my period Tuesday as well.

She wants me to use the cream he made all the time, which I hate as that can feel irritating as well. Everything just feels wet and squishy. She wants me to see if that clears this up. If so, I guess it's just some rash I'm getting. I don't know why though. I've never had any rash on my butt before my fissure. Ever. So why now?

If it doesn't clear up, she wants to send me to a dermatologist. She said she's had patients before who would get red and inflamed every month before their period. They were women who were approaching menopause which I probably am. Something to do with change in bowel ph and they would just have to use Desitin or something for that week every month. I don't know if that's my problem since I've never had this before I had a fissure.

She also didn't think this was nerve pain. That kind of surprised me as I thought you could possibly have nerve pain for quite some time after LIS.

So, basically no answers although I was very happy to hear everything had healed.

Still feeling so discouraged and wondering if I'll ever be normal again. I was so hopeful LIS would do the trick since my resting pressure was so high before surgery. :groan:

"it's chaffed and burning to me but my CRS couldn't find any redness"

Sotiredof this,

I too am experiencing some of your pain (I have been "declared" healed since late April 2014)... My symptoms: rectal burning/ stinging, irritation, paper cut feeling around my anus. When I have a bowel movement it stings/ burns and when I wipe it stings and is tender to the touch. I feel dull ache (soreness)/ pain all day; there is no visible irritation or redness. If I have to push to have a BM, I feel as though my anus is not as flexible as before the fissure and feels very sore afterwards. When pressure is applied (sitting for long periods of time) it feels like I have icy-hot (hot burning pain) on my anus, the intensity of burning pain increases with the longer I sit.

I have been doing physical therapy for the last 3 months but have not improved much (it has helped) so I will be referred to another specialist at Kaiser in San Francisco. Please let me know how you get on as well...
2/14 Fissure developed
3/14 Diagnosed w/ fissure given Nifedipine
4/14 Referred to Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy=Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
5/14 Fissure declared "healed"/chronic anal pain persists
9/5/14 Botox to pelvic floor
9/22 biofeedback

Well tried the cream for 7 full days and still have the burning pain! Now I'm back on nitro to see if that will help. It's the only thing that helped before LIS. I want it to work so I can stop this stupid burning that is taking over my life again but on the other hand if it does take away my burning what the heck will that mean??!! That the surgery didn't work and my pressure is still too high? I can't even begin to think about doing this surgery again.

I just give up. The thought of this being my "new normal" or that I have chronic nerve pain or levator ani syndrome is more than I can handle. It's just become too much for me.
