Alyssa,
I was doing pretty good till I picked up a cold from my nephew. This of course meant I wasn't able to exercise to my usual levels. Resulted in some constipation/straining issues, then bam, the pain flared up again.
I have just gotten over my cold now, started going for short jogs and physio stretches again. Things are still a bit flared up, about 2 weeks now but will hopefully settle down.
That's the only thing that keeps me going sometimes when the pain is bad. I always remember the patches where my pain levels are quite bearable.
Physio has identified the main muscle I have in spasm is the obturator internus.
Sexual activity also somewhat reduces my pain levels for a few days. It could be that perhaps the pelvic floor muscles become relaxed. The other side of the coin is being male, it's got me thinking about prostatitis. Perhaps some of the infection from my past surgeries spread to the prostate and now the bacteria is encased there. Very hard for antibiotics to penetrate into the prostate tissue.
I also have a donut cushion for when I drive the car, but the hole offers no support for the rectum which could be a bad thing. I just use a soft cushion with no hole in the middle.
