Oh I know that pain! Any less blood at least? Does it ooze throughout the day? Are you taking an pain meds? I just used ibuprofen as I was concerned about constipation too. It took the edge off the BM some.

Hang in there Ff.

Thanks Chacha,

Yes MS there is very little blood with a tiny bit of ooze in the day. Today is day 4 and I think it's the worst so far, all the local anesthetic has worn off! whenever i move or bend, my sphincter at 12 divides in two - it's not been sutured at all which then almost makes me pass out. Any tips on how to manage this? I'm meant to be starting a new job in 6 weeks and I'm bricking it - not sure how I'm going to cope. I honestly don't know what I'd do without you all x

Ok I always jynx myself! I went to the loo an hour ago and there was so much blood :groan:

Hang in there Ff. :hugs: The first week is the worst. That is because inflammation from the surgery will peak at 72 hours and then take some time to subside. I know what you mean by the jinxing. I still knock on wood for every positive thing I say. Are you able to keep your BMs totally soft? Do you think your sphincter is spasming? Do you think the CRS divided your sphincter (an LIS)? 6 weeks is a long way to go as far as healing goes. Try not to think about it. Most people are healed completely from a hemorrhoidectomy by the 6 week mark so you should be fine by then. How to cope....one day at a time, one hour at a time, one minute at a time. I know what you are going through. Just make sure you keep it clean and try to distract your mind as much as you can. Reading, movies, etc., helped me. Oh and lots or warm baths....

There was no mention of LIS and I've checked my discharge papers just to be sure. Nothing mentioned! My bms are spot on thanks to my magnesium and water intake. I'm going daily too which is good. The pain woke me up today early and I can't think why. I was only led on my side in bed but felt like a dagger was going into my sphincter. He must have taken away a massive chunk of scar tissue!!

Just went to the loo. Agony again at 12pm. The only thing that helps is a hot sits bath. I did consider going back to gtn but there's a voice in my head saying that's a real bad idea.

Okay then. It's just that you said, "my sphincter at 12 divides in two" so that made me wonder if I missed something. I would think if you had LIS then you would probably be having less pain than you are.

I know what you mean, my CRS took a large amount of tissue out too. He told me it was going to feel like a bad burn. UNDERSTATEMENT! Applying the antibiotic ointment was hell but I was instructed to keep it moist with it. As for the GTN, I know my doctor said to use it. It depends on how comfortable you are with touching the area.

Sounds like you are doing all the right things, so good on you. How many sitz baths are you doing each day? It's good you found something to help with the pain. I spent a lot of time in the tub myself.

2 a day really after each bm. He took tissue on the anterior side in a linear cut. So when I do anything the incision site just opens up. It hurts so bad just to apply the slightest bit of pressure to the area sadly :-(

Yes I know. Just standing up was enough pressure on my wound to make me never want to stand again! You don't want sutures though as those can promote infection, and irritation. This is a necessary evil. It will get better. You have shown that you can indeed heal!

I wish he did botox as well as this scar excision, I feel thats what worked for my chronic fissure at the 6pm position.

So it's been 6 days now and I'm being woken up with the most acute stabbing pain at the whole 11-1 positions, I'm guessing this is all just part of healing but it feels like someones just rammed a knitting needle through the skin! I wake up in a panic and grab my bum as theres nothing I can do to quell the stabbing pain then it subsides after a few minutes!! anyone know what this is?

Oh the zaps (as I used to call them)! It is likely nerves. I had those for a while. Nerves were cut during the surgery and when they regenerate they can be cranky. Also, the skin will pull and stuff as it heals. Skin pulling on nerves can do this. Inflammation irritating nerves can also do this. I had it go on for quite a while but I was very slow to heal. You could try icing the area. Just don't put it on directly (use a thin towel between the ice and your skin). Ice can interrupt and confuse pain signals that are sent by the nerves.

I know what you mean about wishing you had the botox. I had my second surgery 3 months after my LIS (which was a very conservative cut) and my sphincter spasmed so bad and it took me a long time to heal. I was finally able to heal when I started using nifedipine again and also started using topical estrogen.

I know it's agony Ff, but you'll get there, and when you do you will forget all about this (mostly ;)
