Sharing in hopes it's helps
Fissure 4 yrs ago after giving birth, it was worse than having a baby the pain experienced.
Creams didn't work, Botox did for 1 year. Fissure came back after me thinking I was supergirl and that 3 days with no bowel movement was not gonna do any damage - not!!!
So back to the drawing board.
Second injection of Botox. It has been 16 months since.
I ensure I have stool softner on hand at all times. I do not allow more than 2 days to pass by without some intervention if I have not had a BM.
In the meantime here are my other things I find helpful
- a OTC baby cream actually called butt paste. I had it for my baby and tried it out of desperation as other baby creams didn't give any relief and this one I did and do find eases any feeling of a flare up
- I elevate my feet every time. Whether is a stool, a few books whatever just to have my feet elevated helps pass BM easier and quicker
- I got a shower that has a hose. Putting hot water near the fissure area helped it heal and reduce discomfort
Bottom line don't be afraid of the Botox, my surgeon said much lower risk than surgery.
I do have some scare tissue and a nice little sentinel pile there but it causes no pain just got a fright the first time I saw it - now we are friends! Cause me no trouble and I shall leave you alone haha
Good luck all!! And for any pregnant moms out there ensure u take stool softner if u are not passing ur bowels regularly after having baby. Your muscles down there were just stretched to death - you r one hard bowel movement away from on going agony of the lovely fissure!
