Hey Mypoorbutt,
I never had painful spasms before, but my CRS said my sphincter was in spasm, because it was so tight. But no, no pain associated with that spasm, and luckily also no such pain after. I did have the burning before, not every time, but 50% of the times. It was inside and could last for hours. I haven't had that since the surgery. As far as pain is concerned surgery was a full success. No more pain at all. But today is only day 3, I am keeping my fingers crossed things will remain this way as my healing continues.
My worry at this time are the humungeously swollen hemorrhoids and skin tag opposite the surgery site. They are not painful, but feel like a lot of pressure, so I can't sit on my butt, and when I press them, e.g. with ice, then it triggers the bowels to move. Hoping that swelling will go away soon.

Glad your doing so well,
If it helps my hems and skin tags were really really swollen after my fissurotomy but the swelling started to go after a week, so hopefully yours will settle down soon.
Thanks for the info it really does help.
Good luck

Hi Mypoorbutt,
I never had painful spasms. When then CRS examined me for my fissure he told me the anus is tight because it's in spasm. But that was not painful. I sometimes, very rarely had a shooting pain for a second or so, which might have been a spasm. But that happened about once every two months. I am also not getting the burning anymore ever since surgery.
Had a BM today, again pain free, but a lot of pressure on those swollen hemorrhoids.
While I am very happy being absolutely pain free, I am still totally handicapped because of those big hems, that feel hard, exert pressure and i therefore cannot sit. Hoping that is temporary and I much prefer that over having pain.
Incontinence is in the back of my mind, because i still have the suspicion the CRS might have cut too much. But there is nothing I can do now, just gotta wait.

I did put colloidal silver on my hems and the swelling went down really quick like just one day of putting it on...but not sure about whether you can put that on if you have had LIS...it did work though I could practically feel them shrinking.
The spasms are my reason for having LIS as they just cripple me...I don't like the burning aching but I can move and have a life...when the spasms start it's hot baths and hours of sobbing lol.
My surgeon who specialises in IBDs said its really rare to cut too much it's often the other way they don't cut enough....I was like "you better blooming cut enough" after hearing me say I didn't care about being incontinent as long as I wasn't in pain he said in 22 years of doing LIS he has never seen more than a bit of staining on underwear....so I don't think you have to worry about that.

My CRS, when examining my butt, told me the tightness was due to sphincter spasm, so that condition was present, and i guess the main reason for doing LIS. But I never had the painful spasms some folks on this forum report about. I hope it stays that way. Since LIS I have not had any of the burning which I used to get after BMs.

I had two BMs today. It seems whenever i eat something my bowels begin to work. That's unusual for me. I used to have a BM once a day and that's it. I have not increased my fiber intake compared to before LIS. I guess something put my bowels on high alert. Although not painful (so so so thankful!!!) my extremely swollen hemorrhoids get even harder whenever I sit on the toilet. So would really like to keep BM to 1-2 times per day. I took an ibuprofen this morning to help with the swelling.

Today I am feeling a bit of tingling sometimes. The skin on the hemorrhoids is pretty raw by now and that's what might be stingy. Or it's some other crack in the skin, or the stitches. Not sure.

Please forgive me for answering the same question three times up there. Between laptop and ipad I thought my replies where not posting, so i retyped them three times!

Good to know the statistics are on my side as far as incontinence is concerned. I will try not to think about it too much anymore. My CRS told me something similar, in that surgeons are also scared of rendering somebody incontinent and they rather err on the side of caution and don't cut enough. That's why some folks have to have a second LIS.

Update, 3rd day evening: Three times seems to be the charm in terms of BM. With every meal I eat my bowels start moving. And it comes on all of the sudden. Good thing I am at home. All BMs are still pain free. But they keep putting pressure on those swollen hems. For whatever reason the poop takes a while to come out. Sorry for being graphic, but it's all very much in slow motion. I decided to up my fibre intake today, so maybe tomorrow everything moves a bit faster.

Maybe the tingling is the hems starting to shrink....hopefully that's what it is.
I certainly wouldn't want to be going 3 times a day but at least it's all pain free for you now. You sound like you are doing really well though. I guess having people mess about with one end of your digestive system could put it all on high alert for a while. Yes the fibre may add a bit of speed to the proceedings lol.
Good luck with the BMs today

Thanks Mypoorbutt and LISmaybe!
This is day 4, and so far so good. No pain which is great.
But my left side hemorrhoids are still swollen and hard like a rock. And I get the BM urge many times a day, trying not go too often because that now aggravates the hems. Taking sitz baths to hopefully reduce those suckers.
If I didn't have the swollen hems and BM urges I wouldn't even know I had surgery.

So happy for you happy :)
Really would recommend the colloidal silver for the hems, sitz baths often made mine worse as it encourages blood flow to the area, but I'm sure they will go down soon and it really is amazing that 4 days out your doing so well. I'm hoping when I have mine it goes as smoothly...I'm thinking maybe your experience with the hems is why my surgeon want to cut my skin tags off lol
