well the doc at emergency did look down there, said she couldn't see anything bad, but it's likely higher up, that's why she referred me to the colon Doctor at the hospital.

She said that my lower pelvic area felt very tight, especially on the front side below belly button. She said sometimes rectal inflammation can cause general pelvic spasm, causing urinary retention.

I have never tried anti depressants, she said it can help with general anxiety and pain. Only would give me 4 Ativan....they don't subscribe it in general here, although it gave me 10 hours sleep last night, best in a year.

Sorry to hear you were in ER - it's rarely a pleasant experience.

Re psychotropics and AD's: I always go cautiously when the doc starts prescribing these: first I had cymbalta, then seroquel, neither worked for me, then some SSRI that didn't agree with me at all. The side effects are usually worse than the condition, in my experience. But everyone is different.

I said to my GP: the problem is physical pain.

It sounds like you and the CRS really need to know what's going on down there - a scope exam (sigmoidoscopy or colonsocopy) is maybe the best option.

thank you for the input, I agree. The emergency doc only prescribed 4 tablets of Ativan. I was do distressed she felt that some brain meds may be in order. I do find that the more anxious and stressed I get, the more pain I feel.

Today is unworldly. Had to sprint to toilet to bm this morning, rare for me. Good bm, no pain. 1 hour later, pain starts, in rectum, the continues to the front below belly button, hot searing pain, causing me urinary irritation along with the rectal pain. Sitting is becoming impossible.

The emerg sent through the referral to the colon doctors....I will be calling first thing Monday morning to try for quicker action, I am in bad throbbing burning pain today.

Do you have some medication for the pain? Maybe even an OTC med like ibuprofen would help, until you can contact the CRS tomorrow. Yes, my GP said he was prescribing AD's because I was so "distraught" - and I really was. Sorry you are suffering like this, and hope you get some relief soon.

I found Lyrica (pregabalin) more effective than morphine, though it also takes a while to kick in. I believe others here have found Gabapentin useful.

Think I got the best effect from 200ml, 300 was too much 10 not quite enough lol.
Always best to start slow the lower dose could be all you need
