Botox has lots of success and so does LIS it's hard to advise as it all depends on your fissure and your sphincter. Also your country and whether you pay for the procedure or not.
Botox tends to have less said about it on here as people are offered it first and they don't feel the need to find a board like this one.
Unfortunately there is no one answer. LIS is still and probably always will be the option for fissures that will not heal after all other methods have been tried. But for others it's a first option as a means to end the agony quickly
Only you and your CRS will be able to figure out which is best for you Hun

Hi everyone so ive learnt that here in nz they don't offer lis first it's fissurectomy an botox first then lis an they dont check anal tone before hand they will how ever if they notice someone is clearly high toned they will send you off for the test at an extra cost. If the fissurectomy doesn't solve the problem they then do lis or more botox. My question for everyone here is how how successful is a fissurectomy and botox. An just a note I healed for 5 months during my pregnancy 6 weeks ago an it came back 4weeks aftrr having my baby please anyone advice?? Everyone on this site seems to talk about lis no I feel like i cant get lis so I'm hoping fissurectomys are just as good?

I'm in the UK and I'll have a fissurectomy and Botox next Tuesday. I have a chronic fissure and have had problems with fissures on and off the last ten years. My current fissure has almost healed (I've not had any pain at all for almost three weeks) and I hope that the fissurectomy and Botox allows my sphincter to re-set, learn how to relax again and that the fissurectomy allows the area to heal with less scar tissue than there is at the moment. I intend to start a diary here after the surgery if you want to follow it.

I think I'm going to post in the general anal fissure section and then start the actual diary in the diary section. I hope to do it next Tuesday when I'm back home after surgery but it depends on what I feel like. I was throwing up for the rest of the day the last time I had a general anaesthetic but that was when I was a child.

When are you due to have your surgery?
