Owmybum, what kind of plant based diet did you follow that led to this relapse? Also, I thought that flap surgery is supposed to merge the skins together and it is very surpring to hear your story. But I also believe like you that time is the best healer for these damn fissures.

Dmcff
I agree, Botox, unless done whilst a fissure is newly torn, tends to be a temporary cure. It didn’t work for me, and actually made things worse!
Unfortunately it’s just time.

Abu

I developed a tear underneath my flap, I’m not sure how, or why, but my flap was mostly internal... not your text book flap.

I ate a bigger than normal portion of 3 bean stew and quorn..... and not enough water. The result was a very difficult bm.
I had been so well for so long, I guess I just lapsed.

This seems to be the main theme for most of us, you're doing great up until one day when you do something a bit different - not necessarily wrong - and bam. And if these things can happen after 3 years well, I guess we need to redefine what healing means. I was convinced that if you pass the 1 year mark with no issues then you can consider yourself healed.
I wish you well and hope you can get back to being issues free soon.

Hey OMB...of course I remember...you are and were such an inspiration to me and my healing. I rarely come back to the site - so apologies for not getting back sooner.

Very sorry to hear about the relapse of sorts -- something that I would recommend is - Dont' Blame Yourself!!!!!!! Shit happens....truth is that it may not have been what you ate ,it may have been your hormones at the time, stress levels, the position of the sun and moon...and all of our predispositions to having butt issues on this board.

Its hard enough to go through this stuff -- no need to put the blame on your excellent eating habits. The only important thing for you to do is take care of it as soon as possible.

My experience is -- dont do it yourself. Go to the absolute best CRS you can find and get them to provide insight, advice and a road map -- that's what they are there for, that is their expertise.

Sending you big hugs and huge support -- you will get through this episode!!

Best - CB

Thank you so much canadabum...... you’re post has really lifted my spirits.

I’m not going to see a crs just yet... I’m going to try and get this under control myself. The waiting list to see one here is prob 4-6 weeks anyway.

I’ve upped my movicol to keep bms loose and gone back to the basics again.

I hope you are continuing to keep well and fissure free?

Hugs back at ya x

Sounds like a solid plan...one day at a time and you’ll be fine.

I have had a good run of things of late - no fissure or pain.

An update from me.......

No significant healing has taken place. I am doing everything right..... but nearly 4 weeks on and I have no improvement. I’m getting very disheartened.... I really don’t want to be like this again for the next few years.

I started on rectogesic last week. Is it meant to sting the fissure so much? Apart from the god awful headaches and dizziness... everything down there has gone really puffy... is that normal? At the moment I feel like it’s doing more harm than good.
I have booked an appointment to see my old CRS privately... I don’t think I want to DIY it myself anymore. To be honest I thought this would be a minor set back and everything would be grand by 4 weeks......... but it’s obviously not the way.

Owmybum! So surprised to see you back. What agonies we go through over the years. Not here much, but will pop in from time to time.
