My doctor and all the nurses sound like they are sick of talking to me, as well. But hell, it's my body and I'm paying them!!! I'm 8 days post surgery, and as far as I can tell, things are moving like they should. But I tried nifedipine for 4 weeks to no avail and had other not so good medical interventions tried on me before that.

They also tell me that everything is going to be fine... but that's like what they are supposed to say, right??

I'm also having sleep issues. I feel like my body can't get comfortable, even if I'm in a position that feels sort of pain-free. As soon as I start to nod off, i'm jolted awake like a spasm. Not even the painkillers help. Only thing that helps is taking my usual Ambien, which gives me about 4 hours when it usually gives me 8-10. You having any of these issues too?

We gotta just hang in there, bro. No other choice. We'll get our lives back eventually.

I’m in California! Well that’s cool you like the doctor and nurses but I agree, you’re paying them so they need to give you some answers. As long as they’re saying this is all part of the healing process, that should give you relief. I take Tylenol when I have pain and that’s all I need but there’s some days I don’t take it because it pisses me off I need to depend on that. I wake up in the middle of the night because I know I’m in pain, yes. I’m not a bro lol but I agree we will feel better soon. I know our bodies are meant to heal. Just have to be patient.

I had major issues with sleep after the first 7 or 8 days. It was stress and anxiety related. I also lost 18 lbs since the surgery but lost 15 of those in the first week.

Guys I could use some good vibes.

I feel like three weeks of progress were thrown out the window in one day after he applied the silver nitrate.

I hadn't seen blood on my stool in two weeks until yesterday and today. I didn't have post BM pain and spasming until yesterday and today. I'm so incredibly frustrated

I'm starting to wonder if this surgery was a complete failure.

4 weeks and I'm still struggling with post BM pain, spasming and soreness. Wasn't the entire point to cut the muscle and alleviate that? I'm literally struggling to pass a soft stool.

My doctor won't listen to my concerns about that.

Been OK. I still have what I'd call anal area tightening and minor discomfort after BM's. No pain during BM, no blood, but it's just not a happy area still. I'm coming up on 5 weeks next Tuesday.

My BM's are coming out about 1/2" in diameter because my sphincter is tight. My pelvic floor is very tight and I've been seeing a specialist. Sometimes it's so tight after I use the bathroom I have a hard time even passing gas. My doctor is frustrating because he seems to not be listening to me about this.

At least you’re feeling ok. Yes that same thing happened to me. Really narrow bm and then afterwards I would get so tight and couldn’t pass gas and created a lot of pressure and discomfort. The nitroglycerin healed that part for me the same day I stared using it. I know some people don’t like it because it caused headaches but my doctor had me mix it with a ratio of 1 to 5 tablespoons of Vaseline. Then from that I used a pea size twice a day. I’m just waiting for this pain coming from my tag to go away. Healing from this is sooo slow. I feel like I just sit all day and it’s pretty sad because I have kids and I was relatively a super active person before this.

As I feared, I re-tore my top fissure and this morning I felt that classic shards of glass with my BM, followed by blood and pain.

Six weeks of recovery gone in an instant. I had surgery to be exactly where I was before surgery. Clearly I'm one of the few where this didn't work or my surgeon didn't do it right.

I've complained to him since the start that I'm still tight. "Eat fiber and take sitz baths, take ibuprofen" that's all they tell me over and over like robots. This has ruined my life.

I'm basically back to square one

Ugh sorry to hear that. What’s your next step now? That absolutely sucks! I thought we get the LIS to fix this problem. I’ve had my fissure for 4.5 months now. Because of the covid my doctor stopped taking patients but I’m pretty sure I would have had it done by now if he was. I’ve been forced to just deal with it. Fortunately I’m healing on my own which is surprising to me after all the pain I’ve been through.
