The diltiazem should work nicely. Keep using it, it'll take a couple weeks to really help.

Lars -
Both my CRS said that I did nt have Levator avi syndrom because those people have constant pain high in the rectum and I do not. In fact, I only had tension and spasms during BM's and some annoying tenderness in between them. When is your next appointment in the other county?

Hi Jen
Thanks for the answer :)
I don`t know yet when my next appointment is. It will take a couple of months I think. Have started treatment with diltiazem. Hope this can make me pain/discomfort free in a couple of weeks/months :)

lars,
don't retire your jogging or soccer.....
maybe keep up some with yoga and light easy jogging.
i know even at my worst peak of fissure pain, i still ran a marathon and completed it! i was determined to put that little sharp piece of pain in its place....even if it was temporary!
do your stuff, even if you can't do it as long as you use to....but continue to do it!

Lars i am glad you have some diltiazem :)
Maybe you could try some movicol too ???
I used diltiazem 3 times daily and before each BM and after to stop any spasm, the before and after bit really does help, Apply externally and about one inch internally Image
Wishing you all the best !
Happy , i love you as a mermaid ! You looks so pretty Image

Lars,
I also now use the Diliatzem cream before a bm in addition to twice daily. Hope it works for you. Certainly it is worth a try before trying more drastic options.
:IMO:

Hello all
Have been on the Diliatzem for 2 days now :) How long does it take to work? A couple of weeks maybe?
I try to do things as I used to but the pain/discomfort realy makes things difficult...
I got the appointment for the manometri test today. 13.10.08 is the date.. A loooong time. I will be staying on the cream until then. If I am not better until october I will have the LIS and pray that I works :)

Lars, healing the fissure conservative way is a long process , don't put time pressure on your healing. You should start feeling some improvement in 2 to 3 weeks and some people heal in 8-12 weeks while on creams , but some need more.
Yes, it is hard to do things with constant pain- I certainly was not able to do anything but lay around and cry : (, although chronic pain is not a stranger to me : (((. Fissure pain topped it all !!!
All the best !

The pain/discomfort is not that bad for me anymore thank god. It was during my acute period I could not function at all. I can function but not enough to exercise...
I work full time(mostly home office because 1 hour drive kills me after the morning BM) It makes the day so much harder when I go to work in the city..
Better to move from the toilette to the computer and start working :)
I feel about 80 % but needs to be 100 % :)
My dream cenario would be that I heal 100 % from the cream and then I have LIS just to make sure I don`t get a recurrence. Then I would not worry that the LIS woudn`t work since I was already pain free :)
Wish all rapid healing of this beast..
