Pinky - so sorry that you are in so much discomfort still : ( . I can see how hot water can have opposite effect in certain cases , especially with infection going on there : (((. Try to put some camomile tea soaked cotton balls or rounds after taking bath after BM. Lay on your belly and read something for 20 min while you keep it between your "cheeks" - it helped me a lot with swelling and calming it all down . I used room temperature camomile.
I saw that you asked me about Balneol - it is written on the beck of the bottle that it has soothing and calming properties for the anal area skin - so it is not just cleansing agent but protects and heals too. I personally first clean area with it(after the bath) , than on top of it use healing creams with vitamins and such - one that I mix myself. My anus looks "like new" , but still hurts - so go figure !!! I think that there are some remnants of fissures INSIDE , and that I can not reach with my creams or can even imagine trying to do so (brrrrrr...). So, I have to wait 8-12 weeks to give final verdict of the success of overall surgery. BUT, creams and chamomile definitely sped up closing of all outside wounds and irritation !
Best of luck Image Image

Pinky, healing involves so many things, as I am sure you know. Vitamin C helps with the collagen formation that holds scar tissue together, and also keeps capillaries healthy, which is crucial when supplying blood to your fissure site for healing. It's also important for the growth and development of new tissue. Vitamin K is often overlooked, but can be essential to the very first step in healing a wound, wich is stopping the bleeding through clotting. I used vitamin K oil applied directly to my fissure. It pairs with calcium, so make sure you're getting that, too. Vitamin E can only help, too!
Zinc and copper are major role-players in healing, both are involved in ezymatic activity and should be among your first line of defense...just don't overdo it, minerals intake should always be at or near the recommended daily allowance, and buy forms that are more easily absorbed, like the chelated forms.
De-stressing can be very important, and keeping a positive outlook, I believe, can do wonders for wound healing. Always keep your chin up and visualize yourself as getting better, see your fissure healing. Get enough sleep if you can, but that can be hard with a 9-month-old, I am sure!!
Can you lower the water temp on the bath just a bit to make it more tolerable? have you tried using a heating pad -- others have and have reported good results.

Good idea with the heating pad! That way you don't have to have the water touching the skin. I also got a lot of irritation from taking too many baths. I got macerations from too much contact. What did help was to use the A&D ointment which creates a barrier from the moisture before I got in. Then I would use the hair dryer and go sans pants for awhile. I still can't wear underwear for the most part because the seams irritate my nerve but it also helped with getting air down there to reduce moisture.
Good luck today! Image

Saw my CRS this morning. He was surprised to see me and didnt recognise me at first as i was smiling.I was in tears everytime i saw him due to severe pain.he said it was good to see me smile even though i cant still sit.he examined the wound and said it looks fine and is healing.what a relief it was to hear it!i was so scared even though my hubby kept on consoling me that my wound is healing.i thought he was saying that to make me feel better.CRS told me not to worry about leaking which will stop once the wound heals and to put a barrier cream.he said i will have some pain for a while and the fissure will take atleast 6-8 weeks to heal.i will see him again in 2months and hopefully it should have healed by then.he is a very caring and understanding doctor.Thanked him for his kindness.feel positive that i will heal.
thanks Fissy,i will tell my sis to take balneol.can i know which stores its available?how do you feel now fiss?

That is great news! Image Sometimes we just need a little reassurance that everything is okay and it is improving.
After my surgery I would go in often just to reassure myself that it was getting better. I am glad you could smile today. You are going to get through this!

And don't forget to ask your sis about getting you the a&d ointment. I am happy to send some as well. That has saved my butt a few times!
