Ah, don't beat yourself up, man! Gatorade makes me bloated for days. It is supposed to be very hydrating so the fluid stays in your cells rather than being peed out. My eyes even got swollen from drinking that but I was trying to compensate for the GI bug I had where I lost a lot of liquids. Maybe cut the gatorade with water and see if that helps.
I haven't tried Alli but with anal problems it just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Maybe green tea? That helps speed up metabolism. For sweets you could try having a pure protein bar-I like s'mores.
Are you taking any meds that could make you feel bloated?

:( :( :( I know exactly how you feel, Happy! I had to be weighed today at my preop and I jumped off the scales pretty damn quick! I've put on masses of weight not being able to get about properly - and the amitriptiline! I'm really upset about it too! You must be pretty p*ssed off, running all those miles and still not losing weight! Image Image

Happyass, have you taken down a count of your caloric intake each day? If your ideal weight is 170 lbs, then you really need only about 1870 calories, and I am sure you realize that calories really count more than evercise when it comes to losing or maintaining weight.
I counted my calories recent and even though I take in about 2000 a day, I manage somehow to hover right at 160 lbs. Which I like.
Your SO must simply have a higher metabolic rate than oyu, and your meds probably have an affect of your weight too, pal!
I'm a dark chocolate fiend and get some every day with my protein bar.
Wow, Tabby you taught me something -- I never knew that dark chocolate has iron in it!
Corsi, I think anything in moderation, sweets, dark chocolate or even Norwegian junk food (you'd have to tell me what that would be!) is probably OK. The problem is when the wrong foods compromise a regular part of the diet especially to the exclusion of fiber-rich foods. Just my take.

i feel like a big fat blob!

Like my husband, he can eat sweets, cake and Coca Cola....and he still is thin. It's so irritating!
You may feel like a fat blob Happy, but you don't look like one...it must be in your head. It's only muscles :)
I saw a nutritional expert at the hospital as I have lost 20 kilos the last months, and I still loose weight even if I drink olive oil. I don't want to loose much more as I don't want to be thin....I'm happy as I am now. Have had to buy new clothes, nothing fits anymore. Expensive! Especially now when interest rates are going through the roof...
I like that dark chocolate has iron in it....can it make you constipated?
Norwegian junk food isn't Norwegian I think...we have pizza, burgers, kebab, hot dogs, Chinese food, etc, but it's not original Norw. food. I don't think we are famous for our food...maybe for the salmon? the Jarlsberg cheese? Norwegian food it quite simple I guess....kjшttkaker, fеrikеl, potetball, stek, kjшttsuppe, fiskekake, fiskepudding, grшt, etc... :D
It's a long and stretchy country with a long coastline (that's why the Russians like us and we like NATO :) because we want the Russians to stay out of our hair Image ), so food customs are different if you live by the sea or further in the country where there are more farming.
Val, be nice to your self, when you have to stay in the bed it's not your fault that you gain some weight. This is just a short period in your life, it will be normal when you are able to run around again Image
I am fed up with this fissure diet...I so want a glass of wine or Coca Cola...pasta....Mexican food...or other yummi food :)

Dark chocolate has many health benefits go Google !
Too much iron can cause constipation, so maybe just a little dark chocolate and not the whole bar !!

It must be because I don't eat much. When I was diagnosed and pain was at its wonderful peak I just couldn't eat much - I dreaded the pain so much. I knew what waited for me next morning = 1 - 4 BMs from hell Image
Since then my mantra has been: "What goes in, has to go out"... Image
It's strange that I still loose weight since I drink oils, etc...
Wouldn't we all love to indulge some every now and then? What's your favourite food Pinky? Indian food is quite healthy isn't it? Lots of vegetables?
What's your favourite Tabby?
Shall we meet for a glass of wine when this is over? I can come to GB... Image

When I first got my fissure I lost more than 20 pounds in just 3 months and got to 116 pounds before the first LIS (I am 5'6") , so I looked like skeleton :( . It was very frightening and it took some time to regain weight after the surgery even though I was back on normal diet Image . I think that stress and pain also makes us loose weight since our body is in "overdrive" and adrenaline makes our metabolism so much faster !!!!

Corsi
I love spicy foods any kind the hotter the better !
Mexican is top of the list !
The weight issue is part and parcel i agree there Fissy !
If there is one thing i have learnt from IBS and this fissure is the importance of routine mealtimes ! even if we dont feel like it !
I love your stockings too Image
