I was looking at the ingredients and it appears that movicol is different from miralax. Miralax has polyethylene glycol as the active ingredient.

Fantastic news Corsi Image You are almost "there" Image
I agree with your CRS - try to make it soft to hasten the healing and than even after you healed keep is soft for some time to give the place the time to regain the strength. I did not like the idea of stool softeners and managed to heal and than reopen my fissure many times because I was too eager to stop using anything Image Image - BAD IDEA !!! Miralax and MOM draw water back to colon and make things soft. The "drawing back" does not cause dependency in the sense that it will make the colon lazy - it is very important fact !!! Laxatives with irritants that make your guts squirm like crazy are those that can mess up the nerves down there and make your colon "dependent" for stimulation. That is why we have 2 types of laxatives - stimulants and stool softeners.
Now, that said , there is one more things to conceder. Drawing water back is not physiologically nice thing to do to a colon LOL, and of course it would be better if it is not done, BUT - it is like with any other meds - one has to compare benefits and drawbacks and decide what is best in that particular moment.
THIRD option is taking extra fiber that would keep poop soft natural way. I am so sorry that you can not try Benefiber since it really makes poop soft - it was toooooo soft for me ! I now find smooth Metamucil to be just right amount of soluble and insoluble fiber to keep my poop perfect. I take it only once a day - one nice teaspoon, or one leveled table spoon.
FORTH option is taking Colace or Mneral Oil - they keep water that is ALREADY IN the poop - so they do not draw water back.
So, dear Corsi - you have many options but you have to make your poop soft , especially that you obviously have very strong sphincter and once Botox wears off , you will be prone to re tear just like that :( if you do not manage to keep everything soft and nice for very looooooooong time.
So, use this time of healing constructively and as a nice learning period of what would work or what not for your poop , so you would know how to prevent future mishaps (God forbid !!!!).
I must agree with Lecia - nothing "down there" can be worse than butt problems - lazy or not lazy Image - and it is VERY unlikely to happen. Just relax now and make it soft girl - don't be so stubborn LOL You came so far - why risk anything now ????
Best of luck and Happy Healing Image Image !!!!!

Fiss,
I saw the smooth Metamucil in the drug store today. I am wondering how the smooth Metamucil works differently (or how it is different) from the course. I think the smooth has some artificial flavoring. That is the only difference that I could detect as I recall.

Cheryl - some things will stay the mystery I guess Image I tried smooth one by chance - I was out of my regular one and found some singles (sachets) in my pantry and used them
and saw a difference in my poop. I was very happy with the result but was surprised of what was going on since I used metamucil for a year as my main helping aid and I knew well how it works with my guts !!! So after a day or two I decided to give a better look to what was and if it was anything different with a bagged one and the only difference was that it was a smooth texture Image I HAVE NO IDEA why it works differently - BUT IT DOES - at least for me Image . I have no intention of going back and try regular one LOL. They all have artificial flavor - I mean, I never used unflavored one.

Thank you all of you, you are so nice - always Image
Update: I took one teaspoon Miralax with the last meal yesterday, a couple of hours before I went to bed. BM today was formed. I had the same sensation as after last Botox, had problems pushing/getting it out... Used Xylocain, but I don't think it hurt much - as if I am paralyzed down there (I am). Strange feeling. Am a bit sore as expected.
Should I take 2 teaspoons instead?? I saw that you Tabby suggested more than one... I just want to take it slow, because if I get diarrhea or multiple BMs I would panic and just stop!
Lars, I have the same sensation as last time, it's like I can't feel my butt - it's like a stranger to me :) or it's more of a numb feeling.
I was in a bit of a pain yesterday, but that must be because of the Botox shots, the exams and poking around up there. It's not comfortable to sit or lie on the back.
Tabby, Pinky & Lecia, he prescribed 2 things: Toilax Enterotab 5 mg (tablets) and Laxoberal drеper 7,5 mg (drops).
Kim, I think the Botox has kicked in already... He didn't say anything about how long I should take the laxative, but I have an appointment in two months if things go well. If things are getting worse I can call him before. I guess the key thing now - if things continue to heal - is that I have to be careful not to destroy the healing/make sure it continues to heal?
Cheryl, the exam was a bit painful, but he actually was able to us an anascope, and as he said " we weren't able to use it before". He is very gentle, caring and respectful.
Lecia, I don't know how long it took, but it's not like a normal shot or something. Just glad it's over for now.

Fissy, I agree with you and Lecia there...I realize that I have to overcome my negativity towards laxatives to get rid of Cruella de Fissville. Fissureproblems are worse than a lazy colon I guess. I admit being stubborn as h.... when it comes to taking medicines, etc.
Fissy, you always give good advice - thank you!! I will be careful to keep things soft for a looong time :) I guess all of us will be careful with what we eat for ages after healing because we fear retearing....
Juney, I hope this one will be the last one..., but don't we all hope that "this will be the last thing we need to heal? I hope we all could heal asap!
Pinky, I'm not brave - I cried when he gave the third shot - sissy!! Image
Happy healing to all of you Image to you as well Kim, you must have something to heal somewhere Image Do tell if you do....

Good girl Corsi Image
I think gradually upping the dose of moviocl is a very good idea , yes do try 2 teaspoons this evening and see what results come from that, you may only need 2/3 teaspoons to get the result you need :D
Are you still taking lactoluse ?
You are no sissy sweetpea Image You did it and today is a new day Image
I am so so pleased you have healing Image
Here have some code – Image
