Corsi,
I think your attitude toward Miralax has to change!! The mind is powerful and if you believe in what you are doing, it will work better!! I don't like taking it either, by the way, and hope to continue to decrease my amount of it. I don't think it will cause a lazy colon, but the stimulant laxatives might. But this is not a stimulant laxative as Fissy indicated. Good luck!! If you get too loose, you can easily cut back as I often have to do.

So it has kicked in so soon? He did give you the "extra-strength," didn't he? Yep, you have to stay the course and keep doing all the right things, probably forever. Which isn't so bad, you can still have cheese and chocolate and pizza when you heal, just not all the time!

I don't think you need a laxative so much as you need something to keep it soft. Does your doctor know that you are on lactulose? I think you will be surprised and find you like the miralax better. I got such bad cramping with the lactulose.

I bet it is a weird feeling not feeling in touch with your bum-like it doesn't seem a part of you when it is paralyzed like that. If you have trouble with sensation and getting the bowels to move then a stimulant might be necessary.

I don't blame you for crying. I can imagine the pain and the fear.

How are you feeling now?

Hey Corsi,
I was also worried that I'd become dependent on Miralax to have soft stools, but I continually asked the boardies back then and everyone said they'd never experienced dependency and have gone on and off several times without problem. It works as a slight laxative but it's more so for stool softening. I love Miralax, it has seriously helped me more than any other topically applied medication because for me, it just guaranteed painless BMs the next day. I don't know if it's been that great for everyone else but it's been a life saver for me. I don't think your butt can heal if it keeps on getting irritated every morning with hard BMs. I have had instances where I'll have a retear and then I take Miralax everyday for a week, and then I won't need to anymore as I re-adjust my diet to add more natural stool softening food e.g. fruit, spinach, juices, etc. Just try it and don't worry - you won't become dependent on it and I don't think it'd cause a lazy colon in any way.
Take care,

Dear Corsi Image ,
I am so happy to hear you have had some healing! Image
You are very brave to have the injection done without any GA.
I would cry also, it is OK to cry if it hurts (and for many other reasons!).
The miralax is like a little miracle for me, it usually works so well, although it does take time to work, 2-3 days and is a little hard to adjust to the right dose. It works much, much better for me than the lactolose which gave me lots of gas and cramps. The miralax seems much gentler. It does not sound like long term use is much of a problem, I have taken it for over a year.
Hoping you are not having pain today and you feel much better.

Take care,

I think initially with the Botox it is such a bizarre feeling and that slow moving feeling make one sweat ! That feeling seemed to get better for me as time goes on...

Corsi -
I am so glad to hear that you are healing. That is wonderful! Some board members have needed 2 botox shots before they healed - and it looks like your one of them too!
How has the Miralax been working? I have been thinking of getting dome lately. Have you found a dose that is working for you?
Tabby - Try the Benefiber! You won't regret "messing around" - the stuff is wonderful. I bought the evening primrose oil and I have been taking it for a few days. Do you think it will be working in a couple weeks when my period comes around? I don't want to get constipated again.
