Juney,
Different anti-depressants work differently for different people. Maybe you could try Lexipro or another one. I think you live in the NOrtheast part of the US??

I ma so sorry Juney :( . I certainly think that second or third opinion are never "waste of time". I always got some new info any time I visited anther CRS. They all have something to offer , no matter even if they suck "as a package" - one can get cross- reference , if nothing else.
I also think you might give a shot to a Valium - it relaxes butt like no other !!!
:nevergive:

juney wrote:i'm considering getting another opinion at this point. has anyone had success with drs that specialize in wound healing? i don't feel like another CRS will make a difference.
the pain is worsening over the past couple days and it's more than just annoying. i feel like a bomb exploded in my anus everyday after BM. yesterday the feeling lasted from BM at 10am up until i went to bed at 11pm. aleve didn't even help.
despite the prozac i'm completely losing it right now. i haven't worked in months, i'm living with my parents, i never want to leave the house. i KNOW it could be worse but this situation is pretty horrible for me. i'm only 26 and i feel like my life is over because of this. i just can't pull myself out of it now, and the prozac isn't helping. i can't bear thinking about the rest of my life being like this.
does anyone have any ideas about different types of drs i should see to try and help this wound to heal?

So sorry Juney, I understand how you feel Image and I agree, it's hard experiencing this when you are so young. I would try other doctors, don't give up!!! Could your parents help you, for example with finding doctors and explain things for them?

well juney something has come to mind....
with regards to prozac, do you see a dr frequently to monitor the dosage, your feedback, and how the med may be affecting your overall mood and outlook.
i am a bit concerned in the sense that perhaps prozac isn't the right AD for you. there are so many and so it's not like a one-size fits all. sometimes ADs have a reverse effect and may compound whatever feeling you have after a point where the brain has reached its peak with the current dosage. thus either an increase in dosage is necessary to be able to cope and overcome these emotional feelings you have or simply try a different AD without having to escalate the dose.
**
i know you are doing so well with your eating regimine.
just wondering if you are adding any physical activity - yes, i know it's kinda cruel to ask and to expect you to be going to the gym every day - but i am just curious to see if you have been doing 30 or 40 minutes of simply just taking walks outside (bundled up of course) or have access to a treadmill or some workout DVDs. as much as your bum hurts, adding some form of daily exercise or every other day, will help with your AD and brain chemistry and overall the way you feel.
at least it may help to combat this feeling that you can't see the rest of your life like this...which i don't blame you, but if that thought is so strong, i am just worried that maybe the AD isn't helping you overcome those thoughts and may in turn make you feel more hopeless....i hope you see where i am going with this without having to be super blunt.
**
trust me it isn't easy to exercise with a fissure and we have all experienced that one way or another....but it is just one more obstacle that you can overcome and help take your mind off of things...else, yes, if all you think about is that you'll never get through this, it just doesn't help.
going back to the secret or theories like in scientology or the forum or other self-help, maybe you change your thoughts to envision that you will get done with this, you see your bum healing, and you are taking care of yourself the best you can and you will do better and better......visionary/imagery therapy would probably help too.
**
hang in there.....

thanks for remembering tabby :) i actually went in a little early, last week, instead. i just haven't felt much like updating the board b/c there's not much new to tell.
i'm still in a lot of pain everyday. it's very frustrating and discouraging, but i have a few good days here and there so that keeps me going. the dr said i've formed sort of a "keloid" which is strange because i have blonde hair and blue eyes and shouldn't have a problem with scarring. but i guess i do. i just had steroids injected into a scar on my neck that has been painful and inflamed for over a year. i'm considering doing the same thing with the anal scar, but that will take some investigation to see if it's possible.
the scar is a large, painful, irritated mass of skin that becomes much more painful after BM and for the rest of the day. the dr did an anuscope exam last week (the stretching hurt tremendously) and saw that there is still inflammation inside as well. it's a "shallow" area of inflammation, he said. i don't know if that's what's causing all the pain or just the scar tissue, or both.
i'm still doing everything i can to make this heal. i've started using hydrocortisone on the inside again to hopefully promote healing. i also use ointment on the scar outside, but my dermotologist told me to stop using vitamin E b/c it can cause "dermatitis". that was shocking to me b/c i've been using it for 6 weeks with no problems. i have to find something else now i guess. i put A&D on for now, to make the scar more flexible.
i've stopped all supplements except fiber and all i eat everyday is oatmeal, fruit, veggies, fish and raisin bran. i'm 5'10" and i've gone down to 135 lbs since the last surgery. i look pretty awful but i don't care. i switched antidepressants last week b/c the prozac didn't seem to be working. i also have an appt to see a gastro-specialist in january. i'm still living with my parents and haven't even begun to think of looking for a job. it's a very dreary life right now but i try my hardest to stay positive.
i can't say i see a light at the end of this tunnel. i'm SO glad to hear others have healed (fissy, jen!) but it makes it harder for me to deal with not healing so i've been avoiding the board i guess. it's been 2 1/2 years now and it's just maddening.

Wow, I am really surprised Vit E can cause dermatitis, I had always read it was so good for the skin and is incorprated into so many skin creams!
Sorry you are still so down Juney. Sure sounds like inflammation is a huge part of your problem. Can you take celebrex or something like that (I am not an expert here just guessing).
Do take care and know we are all thinking of you!

:hi: Juney,
I'm sorry you are still not healed. :(
Maybe now that you know it could be a keloid you can do something to help it.
I've struggled about 1 1/2 years now with a 8 inch keloid scar on my stomach. I even had it removed and it just returned :( . I have now done 4 steroid injections into the scar every 4-6 weeks. My plastic surgeon said I would need 3-10 throughout the year until the inflammation stops. Maybe a steroid injection would help you. It has made my scar feel much, much better. It is frustrating for these just to form! I've had 4 surgeries before and never had one before either. I think our bodies think there is an injury and just keep sending cells there to repair the area and we don't need anymore! I did try the topical cortisone and it didn't do much to help. Hope you can find some solution soon. Image
You are in my prayers for healing and hope your new med helps you also!

Take care,
Jo
