I would start with 1-2 tablespoons of the Milk of Magnesia. The full dose is 4. I know how terrible it can feel to be all backed up like that. I am sorry things are so rough right now.

Seems like without having a BM, at least your pain would be less??? Yes, most likely it will be a rough BM, but for health adults, your doctor is right, the constipation itself is not too worrisome?
I am not familiar with the UK terms for laxatives, so let me ask, have you taken a laxative, and if not, then why not? Just to get you going. After 5 days, you need a laxative! Plain and simple, but maybe I missed that somewhere in your thread?
Good luck, pal!

Dazzy,
Don't worry about the length of your posts. This forum is for info and to lend support to others. If I am wrong about that, Kim will correct me. Others have posted about many things besides fissures. I.e. hemmroids, digestive issues, supplements, meds, etc. I hope you have a bowel movement VERY soon.

Its a Fissure support board, that's right.
anti_b ...flucloxacillin
What's an "anti-b?" A laxative? If it isn't, anyone who has gone 5-6 days constipated needs a laxative...

sorry kim i will try to keep the posting more on the lines of my fissures.
just shout at me if i start moving away from fissures.
people always say i tend to drift away from the topic of conversation. :)

No, Darren, I was saying your posts are appropriate, that's why we are here! :)
Ha ha, but you still are missing my main question, which is, are you taking a laxative?
Fissures can and will bleed for as long as you have them, some bleed more than others, some barely bleed at all.
You'll whip this thing like William Wallace over the British! --ooops, sorry, Val!

It is a fissure support group but unfortunately other butt problems do arise beacuse of fissures its all relative Image
Kim – I think Darren is taking lactoluse and senna ?? – I would have thought the senna would have shifted the do Image
Hey Dazzy Image
Try the MOM today buddy – The dose that Tootie has suggested ..
I think your doctor is wanting to clear this infection first and foremost
I hope these new a/bs will agree with you – remember the proboitic drinks/supplements.
Glad you have some tramadol :D

Kim, I would agree with you. Dazzy really needs a laxative!!! Glad you second my opinion that his posts have been appropriate. There used to be an expression, "In my opinion," but I don't see it listed any longer in the expression list. Are you going to include some Valentine icons? I have my Valentine avatar pictures ready and waiting!! Image
