Glad you are here, Michelle. I think that the Cheryl that originated this group did a very great service to mankind. This is such a delicate condition to discuss, and most SO's and other relatives cannot comprehend all of the physical and emotional aspects of it, in my opinion. Image

I agree with Juney, healing after fissurectomy is tougher than just LIS alone.

That has certainly been the trend with people on this board who've had it!

And always remember my mother had a fissurectomy with no pain meds about 50 years ago! Wonder how she did it? She said the first time she had a bm afterwards she thought she was going to faint (from pain). Her doc at the time gave her no post-op instructions.

Well, it's been 3 1/2 weeks and I feel like I did before the surgery. Considering I felt much worse afterwards I have to look at this as a positive step. I still have my days of thinking that this will never go away but then I have to take a deep breath and just deal with today. I only have pain during BM's and it's not like a knife but a BIG pinch.
I haven't been on in awhile because I can pretty easily psyche myself into thinking that I'm going to get a fistula, etc. I had to stay away to keep my mind off of it for awhile. A fissurectomy with no pain meds, Cheryl??? I sure do hope that your mother healed from that because I'm sure she never wanted to go near another doctor after that! How frustrating!

She rarely visits docs and takes no meds. She is almost 84 years old and doing quite well living on her own with a renter in her basement apartment!
