OH _ what a wonderful news Image !!!! I chose the right day to "log-in" , I guess :D !!!!!!
That is fantastic Steve Image !!!!
And yes, unfortunately the amount of discomfort is not always related to the "damage" still present ! Some people have big fissures and small discomfort and some tiny "scratch" and big discomfort and until your anus is COMPLETELY healed - unfortunately some weird feelings and sensations will be there Image
You are well on your way to complete healing (KTW) : ))), and in a month or 2 you should be "home free"

Good news! Glad to hear you are getting better! Things should settle down soon. I'm sure the nerves down there are still upset but they'll get over it :D
I went to doc too but my visit was not as comforting. The incision site is still sensitive so doc did an exam with a ped anoscope (had a little bleeding after tho :( ) He couldn't see anything wrong! But put me on another course of antibiotics anyway. Since the antibiotics seem to be helping the leakage problem, I didn't object.

If one thinks rationally- there is NO way they can actually REally think what they say, since anus needs about 2-3 mos. just for a alllll swelling to come down completely (and they know that since I was told that by CRS ). Second- fissure needs to heal and it takes 6-8 weeks at best for THAT to happen ( they also know that) !!!! So, in my humble opinion, LOL, I think that when they say 1-2 weeks recovery period they assume that one would be able to walk and go to work 2 weeks post op. . In pain and discomfort - yes :(, but able to function Image . They do not mean one would be "like nothing happened " , ; ), oh no, no way LOL

Fissy, I agree. They mean we can function in two weeks. Common sense should tell anyone that even when a women gives birth vaginally in a place that doesn't have to be used over and over like our butts, it takes 6 weeks to heal . How in the world could any one expect that our anus that
gets used everyday over and over after an operation could heal in a week or two. It's really amazing that it heals at all if you think about it..LOL

I'm now looking at being healed and discomfort free in 2-3 months, this is what I see as being a logical time scale for butt surgery recovery, during this time I will stay with the usual regime of stool softeners and water, my diet is already pretty normal, I very rarely have soup now, integrating other "normal" foods back into my diet will give my stools a bit of bulk and keep my sphincter from getting tight over time (hopefully) and since I have no problem passing bigger stools this seems to be working just fine.

Thanks cheryl..
I've been to see my GP today because of the discomfort I'm still feeling, initially I asked for some Nifedipine but the doc couldn't find it anywhere in his little book of meds, surprisingly I even had to spell it out for him  after much searching and still nothing I then said what about Nitro to which he replied "what about Diltiazem"? I told him that I keep getting a bad itching reaction from using it so it wasn't a good idea, at this point I'm thinking who's the GP here, me or you Image not being funny but I seem to know more than he does Image in the end I just said can I have some Nitro please... He said "It's for heart problems" Image I said "I KNOW THIS" Goddddd, I definitely know more than he does!! It's also for the treatment of fissures, oh yeah he said and printed off the prescription accordingly... Glyceryl Trinitrate Rectal ointment 0.4%
The End.
