fissure is back

Postby kmax1940 » 16 Oct 2010, 07:49

actually it never did heal... i just had a long period of really loose stools.
so there was no blood, no pain...
stool started to harden up a bit... and bang.. cut again.
all LIS surgery did for me was cause me a lot of pain and gave me a big hospital bill.

I'm really sorry to hear that kmax. How long ago did you have LIS?
I'm 3 weeks post-op and I haven't had any issues as yet. I only use colace and I'm starting to back off of that a little so things are starting to firm up for me but so far so good. Actually, even with the colace, my stools are pretty well formed because I use metamucil too.
Have you talked to your doc about the fact that it never healed?

last oct. yep... he said go back to the gastro doc... which is a waste because the gastro doc said there was nothing more he could do... that why he sent me over there for surgery...

That really sucks. Do you have other options for doctors? The one thing I learned was that you need to search high and low for the best CRS you can find to perform this. Some even said to travel if need be. I was lucky, my daughter is an RN here. She knows them all and their reputations so she pointed me to the best in our area.

Kmax, I'm curious, I thought you had LIS this year not October last year, I'm only asking because your older posts (from June) say that you were 2.5 months out of LIS?

Have you had any relief from having LIS, or have you just developed another fissure? Some people require 2 LIS's because of the tightness of the sphincter or because during the first LIS the sphincter wasn't cut adequately.

well i just had no blood and no pain for about 1.5 months! that is because i was going through a time where i had really loose stools...
but it started to bulk up this week.. and i knew it was coming.
sure enough. it broke open this morning.. ughhhh.
when i was taking stool softeners and fiber every day... it did not seem to make it loose... then i started going through a time where it was loose....
wish i could keep it loose. :)
