Sue27uk wrote:Aw Andy, I am so sorry to hear the botox has been unsuccessful. Following my own experience it doesn't surprise me! I too intend to refuse another round of botox as it seemed to make things worse rather than better. Dare I say it, I've had a week of no pain. Unfortunately this returned on Sunday but seems to have cleared up again. Went shopping yesterday, and got a bit irritated so don't know what to think really. Been applying the rectogesic for 3 months now and not sure what to do! Roll on 8th May, hopefully some advice and if no luck off to the private CRS I go if needs be!! Hope you feel better soon, I never had any problems with gas or anything but I know it can be a side effect. Give it a little more time. When is your follow-up?
Hey Davo, sounds like you've been eating for the rest of us!! I agree, Amsterdam and Paris are great if you ever come over Sweet. If you ever get to Paris visit the Pompidou Centre (though art is my thing so I'm a bit biased!), plus of course the Eiffel Tower and go to the top!!! Amsterdam very pretty too. I would love to go to America, it's my dream and I will make it one day. Just wanted to say Davo, thanks for the support you have given me over the past few months. This forum and the people on it are great and at times have kept me going. Image I have lost alot of friends over this but have decided the few who have stuck around are worth it. I am more positive now, my fissure is sort of under control and is definitely improved. Plus having my other problem under control is great too. Hope your follow-up appointment goes well, let us know how you get on. Oh by the way I think you asked a while ago where I was in the UK, I live in Worcestershire so sometimes get referred there but my doctors is on the border of Birmingham so I get a choice of where to go (nice!). So I am at a hospital in Birmingham for all the fissure stuff and a different one for my other problem :)

Hi, Sue - I would love to go to Amsterdam and/or Paris - and maybe one day I'll get that chance.
Hang in there with your fissure problem. --- It takes awhile to sort everything out, when it comes to that. I went through two crs's, until I finally found a third who understood that my AF was not going away on its own. He's now overseas, and I'm seeing the 4th crs, whom I like. --- Healing takes time and sometimes a lot of patience - so, that's what I'm trying to give myself.
My brother had a chance to visit various parts of Europe, years ago - and he made it to the Eiffel Tower! I'd probably gain a thousand pounds, just eating the great French food over there, lol. --- One thing about this AF experience - I have my weight down, and I'm happy about that.
Wishing you a pain-free day!

Davo, so happy to hear of your exam results, it's, how do I put it, absolutely stupendous! Wow! I am hoping to hear something similar regarding my own bottom. After having that one odd bowel movement that included just a bit of blood and pain, everything since has been pretty much fine. The following BM didn't happen for a good 48hrs or so later, but then I had a couple of successive sessions, making up for lost time, so to speak.
I do intend to remain fairly close to my current diet, as it is working for my weight maintenance, and that is a really good thing. I just want so badly to be able to get on my bicycle and ride some!
I'm also glad to hear that others are progressing as well, although that seems to signal that at some point in the point in the future we will start losing contact with each other, which I surely would/will regret.
Davo, I do wish you the best for your upcoming wedding and am assuming the banquet afterwards will include much pizza! :-)

Sweet/RAS,
Thanks guys, i am busy making my way through endless junk food and beer..... life is good!! Also its the start of the weekend and i imagine by the end of it i will have gone up a jeans size :D
I have had endless hugs, pats on the back and handshakes since my appointment last night. It really is a wonderful feeling to be back to normal.
Ras, it's funny you should mention about pizza at the wedding. We are getting married in Siena and on the square where the service is we have hired an outdoor brasserie to serve the guests pizza and beer before we all head off back to the castle.
Now things have healed i can't see me spending much time on here anymore. I always intended to stick around but to be honest it seems silly going on a webpage for a condition i no longer have. That said i intend to stick around a little while longer - the reason behind this is although my fissure is 100% healed i feel my journey is only 95% complete. Until i see the final 'I'm healed' post from RAS, Sweet, Sue, Tanya, thisfissure and the few people who email me then i dont think i can actually close this chapter to my life. So guys hurry up and heal!!! I will always be around to try and offer you support and i can waffle away all night long if you need me to but I so want this journey over for each of you.
Ohh and Sue.... Seriously if you can go and get LIS, you can put an end to all this pain rapidly and start enjoying your life again - don't let this rule your life any longer, its gone on way to long now...
Have a great weekend folks

Bravo, Davo!
I am soooooooooooo glad you are finally healed!
I can't even begin to tell you (at least not without crying, and I'm too manly for that!) how much your posts (and personal responses) have meant to me personally and, I am sure, countless others. Thanks for sharing your story and giving us all hope that better days are ahead. I look forward to the day that nobody needs this forum anymore.
Here's a toast to all of us: may we all find our path to success just as Davo has done - and the quicker the better!
Davo, if there was an award for Anal Fissure Support Forum "Person of the Year" I would nominate you. And, of course, the reward would be a lifetime supply of the best pizza in the world (i.e., Chicago Style Pizza, IMO).

thisfissure,
Are you flirting with me again? :D Man up, drink beer and be all macho again!!
Thanks for your comments fella, it's nice to know that all my silly waffling hasn't gone completely unread.
How are you feeling now? And more importantly which CRS did you opt for in your CRS lottery?
Ohh i am sure you lot are all ganging up on me and boasting about your vastly superior pizza over the pond. Ok we may not be good at pizza but we are good at...... errrr... errrr..... errrrrr.... Actually are we good at anything over here?

Davo - You UK folks are good with the Royals and all their pomp 'n circumstance, etc. NOBODY gives a formal event, quite like the British Royal Family, IMO.

Davo, I'll second both what Sweet and Thisfissure said. You guys got that whole royalty thing down. We don't even come close, at least not since Kennedy was killed. And yes, I too would have to nominate you, for all the research you did, under fire as it were. As my butt was kicking my butt and had me, literally at the breaking point, it was the facts and figures you were posting that, largely, helped me cope, along with the encouragement of yourself and many others. That information is going to continue to help people long after you've completely put this chapter of your life into your memory banks!
And no Davo, I, am NOT trying to flirt with you. This sailor boy wasn't built that way, if you catch my drift! :-)

Thanks Davo. I don't blame you not coming on here, I know what you mean about knowing whats happened to people though. I think my journey to full recovery is a little longer, partly due to not only fighting the fissure but this skin condition aswell. I have been told I need to contact the hospital asap after suffering a flare up after leaving the cream off for 2 days. Apparantly I am not able to use this cream for any longer so am back to square 1 again with a follow up not until June. Looks like I have to go back to my GP AGAIN!!! I'm petrified to go back, although I have an eye problem which I have been told to go to the GP for. Anyway enough of my waffle, feeling like things are dragging me down a bit today.
Anyway, fab news that you are healed! I'm really pleased for you. Will update about what I do next, as soon as NHS appointment is done with if I'm not happy its straight to the private CRS to get things sorted. Also may go to a dermatologist privately too to get things sorted once and for all. Enjoy your time eating what you want (not that I am jealous in any way!) Image

Sue, so sorry to hear that you are having such problems still. I do have to say that here across the pond, my experiences with what folks here would term "socialized medicine," have been extremely positive over the years. I speak of our Veterans Administration medical system. I have received care through them, due to my being a servic-connected disabled vet, on and off since getting released from the Navy, back in the early '70s because of my disability. Having not found answers to one of my problems, and the one which has prevented me from having a productive life since last June, I have returned to the VA, and I'm still impressed, in fact, even more so.
Like Davo, I have been doing great! I had my LIS performed on February 27th, and I am feeling completely healed at this point. I hope to have that confirmed this coming week, when I go back to the doctor for a follow-up. This is my CRS of course.
Like Davo, I will probably hang around for a bit to follow the healing of our current class. Then I want to move on as life is short and there is so much left to experience!
I do hope Sue, that you do find solutions to your troubles as well. I just could not imagine continually going through this.

Thanks Rob! I'm glad to hear you are healing! Get on with your life and enjoy every second. Thats what I intend to do when I am able. I'll get there in the end, just got to not give up. It's hard but I know it will happen for me soon, it's got to!! :)
