Funny, I just posted about pecans and if they were okay to eat with this problem. I love pecans! They are soft, so I don't see the issue with eating them, as long as you chew them up really well. Pecans are really healthy. I really, REALLY need the calories, too! I'm stuck at 99 pounds because of how little I eat due to this issue and I don't want to lose any more weight. My energy has been so low lately due to this problem and it's been making me super cranky.
January 2013 - Diagnosed with fissure. Eventually turned chronic.
History of IBS and anxiety disorder, along with fear of using bathrooms other than my own caused it.
Tried Diltiazem, but eventually developed a rash.
LIS surgery scheduled August 26th.

I found the article in the link back in the days when I still had my fissure. I started eating pecans. I ate them, every day, for ages. No effect whatsoever.
Be interested to hear if eating pecans works for anyone here.

^Usually, when these miracle diet cures work, its because the new food is making up for some deficiency that prevented healing in the first place. So, if you don't have that deficiency, the new food isn't going to create a cure.

I'm glad it fixed you.thank you for coming back to share your success story too! Did they scrape fissure scar tissue also or did they just do the lis cut on butt muscle?

That's interesting. As my diet was pretty good, having made changes to it to deal with the fissure and as I also took supplements, I probably didn't have a deficiency. I did like pecans though - and they're high in fibre, so I had to be careful not to let them increase the level of fibre in my diet too much and thus produce overlarge stools. Had to make changes elsewhere in my diet to accommodate them. I would be interested to hear if they work for anyone though.

Just the LIS cut to the internal sphincter. By the time of the LIS, the major fissure I'd had had healed with Diltiazem cream but the muscle tone had become so high that I was forming minor fissures with most bowel movements and still getting muscle spasms. The LIS fixed that, thankfully! I'm back to normal now.

I ate a lot of nuts until just recently, when I added a lot of wheat bran on my doctor's orders and eliminated nuts because of a fear that they would go un-digested and hurt my fissure.
But, as I said earlier, I've stopped progressing this last week and have even gone backwards today. There are a couple other things going on that could be affecting it, but the diet thing is one that I can control, so I'm starting here.
