Thanks for posting that mamafizz - sounds just like my situation. I'm going to be asking again about LIS in the next couple weeks if the pain does not downgrade.

GG, I know that's what I thought too... hope it helps to sort this out once and for all. Hoping mine will do the same with this botox, it's only healed about 3 weeks so going to give it some time and after speaking to the specialist he assured me that all of this will get better no matter what. I will be happy to share his info also if you like. And Will let you all know if the Diosomin helps, it mainly takes care of the inflammation which is what keeps the pain cycle in full swing. I am going to give it a whirl, it's all natural and helps with healthy circulation so everything is getting what it needs. Here's to being better than ever!!!!

Reilysmama, hope things are still going well, you and positive son have struggled for a year, i have had pain constant since I had this happen, even after spasms, they were the worst, but each day it was always there in some form as it interrupted everything, was that your experience or was it off and on? And did you have that higher up knot feeling also, and if so has it gone yet if you can tell?

Just an update - headed to my gastro this aft - not looking forward to speaking with him again, but my parents are coming so that should be some help. Hopefully this will us the to discuss MRI results and will be my last visit with him, as I am asking my family doctor for a referral to another gastro.

Pain has been really bad - I hope I can get a consultation soon to get a second opinion on the LIS for my situation.

Luckily, the diahrea seems to be a little better. Three days ago I took half an Imodium before bed. I did not go at all the next day, had D again yesterday, and then finally was normal today...I have changed my diet and I think that is what's helping - I now have an ensure and half a banana for breakfast and a large smoothie with vegan protein powder, half a banana, almond milk, and lactose free Greek yogurt later, with a homemade pumpkin oatmeal muffin or two in there as snacks.

Not eating very much but trying to keep the calories up all the same. Perhaps the increase in protein made a difference? Prior to the fissure, my diet was probably 50% protein.

Anyways, I'm not sure I can live on this diet long term but it's relieving to know that I can stop the D if needed if I have the LIS

How are you doing mamafizz, RM, mpb?

GG, Yesterday was better for me pain wise, it's about 3 weeks since healed but still having this everpresent knot feeling higher up. Spasms better, My specialist said it absolutely takes time, (as we already know). Have to gauge improvement month over month instead of daily or weekly. I have a consultation with an herbalist in Oregon via phone.

, I really believe a holistic treatment plan might be best --trying to treat the inflammation, the muscle tension and the digestive, all can be accomplished safely and effectively with natural remedy I am told, also the all natural diosimin I believe is helping the inflammation as well. (It sounds you may need also to soothe that internally) I will be happy to share the contact info. My specialist also does a phone consultation since he knows how painful it is to travel when your feeling so much pain and discomfort) That supplement has been shown to relieve the muscle spasms also. Do you still have the constant pain and ache as well as the tightness and knot in muscles as well? :D We made it this far so it won't be long we will have conquered this and will be back to normal very soon, actually better than normal!!! Let us know how it goes?! BEST TO YOU>>>>

Thanks mamafizz - how have the supplements been going? Any improvements? Have you been able to see the physio?

My appointment with the gastroenterologist went better than expected - I believe he realized how inappropriate he was last time as he seemed to be taking extra care to listen and gave me a good solid 45 min appointment.

My MRI was all clear - so it's nice to know nothing sinister is going on. We discussed treatments for my ibs and he has prescribed amytriptyline and a special type of fibre (from France! Ooo la la fancy) which the pharmacy had to order.

We also discussed the anal pain, which has been consistently getting worse. He says LIS is likely the way to go as he believes we have narrowed down any other causes of pain. He says everything points towards the fact that relaxing the muscle will ease pain.

I will be calling my surgeons office Monday to get this dealt with asap and hopefully be better soon!!! I'm feeling optimistic about the surgery. If my pain was tolerable, I would continue with physio/alternative healing strategies, but it is unbearable.

I have tons of questions for my surgeon tho...!! Closed vs open LIS??
