Kathy - the silver nitrate is basically what they use to try to force the wound to close up and stop bleeding/weeping. It burns when they apply it ..and the area is sore/tender for a little while after. But it's all very minor compared to dealing with everything else.

hey diamond
yea im not to bad . I saw an other crs for his opinion it was mr Windsor ,he works out of Harley st London one of the best crs in the country if not Europe ,he had a\ good look and we spoke and I asked loads of questions
I took my wife for support (bless her shes been great )
he said basically its all healed great no bad scar tissue only a little skin tag nothing to worry about ,I have a crease where the fistula went through the internal sphincter muscle and where he cut it out it basically left a little crease where now and then I get a little debris stuck which I thought was a little leakage ,he said its ok, cut back on movicol and stool softners and it will improve ,and I have done this I still drink tons of water and I take a 300g magnesium tablet ,he also said where I had the fistulotomy operation it was a low fistula and not a high fistula even though it went through some internal sphincter muscle I was so pleased about this
and he said where I had the fistulotomy ,it was like having a lis ,so I should not get and more fissures ,
over all I still get some aches and niggles after a bm but he said one day I will wake up and not feel any thing (heres hopping)
I found out the hardway I had some chicken balls and cakes the othernight5 and wow did I pay for it the next day bad stuck bm could not clean I one go ahhhhh, I still jump in the tub and shower off after a bm ,I think I will have to get out of this soon,
but I hope and pray this is almost over for us all
heres to great healing
health and happiness

I'm really glad to hear that!! It let's the rest of us know that there's hope :)
I actually just heard from my doc and she would like me to take about another week and a half off work. I'm about to let my job know - hopefully it'll be fine - not that I really care much at this point either. It's my health - and it comes first.. I've realized that you have to be selfish sometimes.. in the past I have let work dictate my life I now realize, so this time it'll be different. I am getting a little cabin fever though as I'm home all day and by the time my husband gets home it's too late to go anywhere...
I had frozen pizza the other night and I found out the hard way that I probably should be avoiding junk food :)
One thing I've noticed is that I get gassy quite easily since my surgery. I hope this is something that'll go away .. or at least get better as time goes by.
I'm so glad your wife's supportive - my husband has been as well. He tries to take me to all my doc appts - right now he sort of has to as I can't drive and if I tried to walk, it would probably take me half a day given the pace at which I'm walking! :)
I think I will forever need/want a hand held shower ... When I went away for a few days in July I had a hard time showering without one!

Hi Diamond,
Great to read you are healing well - and yes, it can sometimes even be a little more painful as certain areas heal up, but it is generally just a temporary thing. Fingers crossed you are on the final leg of your journey!! & I've a feeling you'll be out & about at Halloween this year!!.....
Great attitude with your work too......As essential as it is to go and earn money, it's too easy to get trapped and overwhelmed by it all. I hate to say, but only with age, have I begun to realise more & more where my own priorities really lie and work now falls below my own health & family! On saying that, it is however a great distraction at times like these too.........!
Keep going Diamond - you are doing so well and keep visualising all those things you've missed out on in your first post! Once you beat all this stuff, you'll be a brand new person living your life to the full once more.......

Thanks ETO & Rachael :)
Really appreciate the encouragement! It's hard to believe that it's only been 2 weeks since my surgery. I've already started to look into vacation possibilities in Nov/Dec lol .. I really do hope I'll be okay by then.. but at least that way I'll have something to look forward to.
My biggest fear is the LIFT failing.. but I keep reminding myself that my surgeon said "I'm very optimistic....". I would assume she wouldn't want to give me false hope but time will tell!
I emailed my boss and my HR dept.. HR responded and my boss has yet to respond.. I will chalk it up to her being busy .. I feel like I'm letting her down as I was leading a number of deadline driven projects and I assured her I will only be out a week... but now I will end up being out over 3 weeks.. but do I really care? no, not any more :)If this is what it takes for me to heal properly - I will gladly even be out of a job.. not ideal, but I'm sure I'll find a way around it.. since I'll have ALL this extra time once I no longer have to take sitz baths and carry gauze everywhere :D:lol: Image

I know Diamond it's hard when you have to go back to work, but remember you have to heal first, or your no good for any one at work, if your not productive for the company's sake..so take care of your self first, heal then go back to work,
yu keep up the healing, you go girl, my other Canadian Friend..Image

Thank you :) You're right .. I actually lived with this issue for a while.. no idea how I actually managed to hold down a stressful fulltime job! Actually at one point I had an awful boss.. I went through a really bad time where I was sometimes late because of everything I was dealing with in the morning. And I told her I had health issues.. but she wanted to probe and find out what (thought I was faking) and I was too embarrassed to say... so I just sucked it up and somehow got through my time working under her and her high strung self! I actually hope I run into her at some point.. would love to tell her that I had 3 surgeries in the past year.. I think she deserves to feel bad for not trying to be more understanding!
By the way, any chance you're in Toronto too?! :)
