you beauty, he`s back.a couple of years ago i had a cold and was taking a codine based pain reliever and had to sneeze one night. tried to hold it in and `bang`,blew me ar$e apart .had excruiating bm`s for 2 weeks, saw my gp and was diognised with an af. after waiting two immensly painful weeks of `rabbit pooping`, saw a specialist after another 2 weeks and finally had a sphincteroptmy.MAGIC , i thought .but i always felt that it was still lurking ,mostly when i strayed from my diet.the other day i fely the `shards of glass`during a bm,tried to hold back but exploded again. as i was working in a mining camp , had to wait 3 days, includingflight back home ,went straight to a gp to get a referal to the specialist. in the meantime ,he gave me some cream, proctosedyl,to help me have bm`s.stuffed if i can squeeze that little tube up me bum ,excruitating pain ,have tried applying it at the anus and wait a bit then insert, afraid its only one way down there and it aint IN. i am in dire straits , feel like a crap every 2 minutes, the throb ,the shards, i`m over the embarrassment, couldn`t care less , just need some relief till i see the specialist . any ideas (can you please explain how each one helps) thaaaanking you steve

Try stool softeners to keep it soft, warm baths to help the pain, an ice cube in a tiny sandwich bag pressed against it after a bm, and ask your doc for one of the healing creams like diltiazem or rectogesic.
Fissures do tend to rear their ugly head again and again if you're susceptible to them. Sometimes another LIS is needed, to fully heal it up.
Hang in there!
