oh i didn't realize you're having fissurectomy as well, lars. i had my fissurectomy/fistulotomy exactly 3 weeks ago. luckily i just finished a school program so i don't have a job to go back to. i plan to give myself at least another 3 weeks before i consider applying to any jobs. i've had 2 LIS surgeries so i know for a fact that fissurectomy is much more difficult to recover from. the pain was SEVERE for the 1st week (especially during BMs). it's not as painful now, but i still have stitches hanging out and i'm not sure if the fissure's closed or not yet. i'm still taking 3 baths a day and am VERY careful with my diet. my fissure/ulcer was very deep and large as well, having had it for over 2 years so i think 12 weeks sounds like a good estimate of total recovery time.
good luck w/ your surgery. it will be a relief to have it done and get started on the road to recovery.
bernard - your situation sounds like hell! i can't believe you're working in that condition! are you planning another surgery or does your dr think it'll get better in time?

good luck lars on your upcoming surgery. i am sure you will pull thru like a champ!
i think you made a good decision on staying away from work. i know jobs may not be plenty out there like the one you have, or maybe so, but in the end, there is only 1 Lars so you need to look out for yourself first.
everything will work out as it should be for the best.
juney i am glad you are still recovering but on what seems good progress this time.
bernard, i hope you continue healing and make more progress. i am sorry to hear about your added stress from work on top of your situation in recovering. hang in there.

Lars - BEST OF LUCK BUDDY !!!!!! Image
Take as much time as you need !!! Your health is the most important thing and you are young and have no family so you can definitely take some time off and get rid of this horrible condition and have your life back. If they fire you, their loss !
I had LIS with fissurectomy both times. It takes longer to heal but it does not mean that you will be in that much pain all that period. After first LIS and fissurectomy I would have been able to go back to work (if I worked) after 3 weeks definitely. BUT, healing is another matter. Fissure needs to close and it takes 6-8 weeks at best, and with fissurectomy add 4 weeks to that ! So, yes, for wounds to close up you will need about 12 weeks , but symptoms and pain can be gone well before that time. I am glad you have fissurectomy if your wound is deep and chronic - it helps edges of a fissure to close nicely and prevent fistula formation or abscess.
Again - best of luck and keep us posted ! We will all keep you in our thoughts and prayers in 2 days Image
Bernard - soooo sorry that you had to go through all of that, my heart goes to you :( - I really hope that you will heal completely and soon !!! Best of luck to you too with healing and maybe you can take disability now and take a break and concentrate on your health Image . What a nightmare ... I really wish you heal fast after so much suffering - just not fair Image Image !!!

You have been through so much, Bernard. I am amazed at how you managed to function at all. I know it must be so miserable. I hope you will do what you have to do to get better. You are more important than any job. Bless you.
