Lars - don't forget that you had a fissurectomy too , not just a LIS. It makes things more painful since you have a "freash" wound there inside the anus, but since it is loose now sphincter will not keep it open during spasms and it will close up nicely !!! First 2 weeks are the worst, than slowly but surely it will get better and better. Just keep it all nice and clean, take
long soaks , stay on good diet and you will be a "New" man in no time Image !!!
With fissurectomy healing is longer than with LIS alone, add about 4 more weeks, but it is necessary when scar tissue is present ! Taking away that junk helps fissure's edges to adhere better and without forming empty space below where fistula then can form.
Best of luck Lars - hang in there - better days are just a week away !!!!

Thanks all :)
I am just so worried that I will not heal. This is the last resort for me and if it fails I think I will go crazy :(
But it is still early days for me :) Only 5 days since surgery. Pain after BM is surgery pain because I did not have that before LIS. But when that subside after MANY hours it is just plain fissure pain all day along. I have alot of draining from the wound and it smells like hell :) Anyone else experienced this?

Sorry you are in pain, man! You will heal! Just check out some of the other surgery threads and you will see that others felt the same way you do right now and it is absolutely normal.

lars - i know what you mean! this is my 3rd surgery and i seriously have no idea what i'll do if it doesn't work this time...and i'm 4 weeks out already and still in pain. i feel like i'm already going crazy! just try to be patient, that's all we can do.
i also had a bit of draining in the first week, that's to be expected. it definitely didn't smell good, but if it's really putrid check with your dr to make sure there's no infection. i have to put ointment on mine so that sometimes makes it seem like there's more draining on the gauze. are you using any ointment? i use vitamin A&D mixed with a little neosporin. it's to prevent infection and encourage healing.
i have minor pain with BMs now, but the first week was literally hell. it hurt so bad i just had to grit my teeth and get it out. it got better after that first week, but i still have to hop right in the bath b/c of the pain after BM. then i take ibuprofen and rest on my stomach for awhile with ice wrapped in a towel on my butt. it takes me a few hours each morning before i feel up to moving around at all. and this is after 4 weeks. so don't fret, it hasn't been that long!! i'm sure you'll notice slow, gradual improvement.

Much better day today. Have had 2 bms with pain but nothing like the other days. Fissure pain is almost gone. Just have soreness and shooting pain. I hope it is just an uphill battle from now on :) Can sit without to much discomfort also :)

You seeeeee Image !!! I am so happy for you and yes, it will be up hill with small "slips" here and there, but definitely nothing to compare with the first 2 weeks !!! You will heal and it is not true that this is the last resort , dear Lars Image - many, many people have numerous procedures before they get completely well but I am sure this will be the last one for you !!! Image
PS: If foul smell continues see your CRS - just to be on the safe side !!!

Ummm..you really shouldn't be sitting, Lars. Not directly on your anus. Too much compression on your incision. Wait about 2-3 weeks to sit.
Glad you had a better day...

I just had to try to see if there where much pain when sitting. I am om my back and on the side on the sofa :) Since I both had LIS and fissurectomy I think I have made great progress after just 6 days :) Maybe I am a fast healer after all...
