What is ligasure? Is that like a banding procedure or did that actually excise the hemorroids with a scapel?

Tom,
Do you apply the ointment internally? Also do you take anything for the pain or discomfort? I feel like I need something or maybe a muscle relaxer.
I can relate to going to the wrong Dr.

As far as pain control I would take 800 mg of Ibuprofen and see if you can get a low dose of valium or flexeril. Both of those help me.

I was mentioning Tramadol on another thread-it is prescription but non-narcotic so most doctors will prescribe it. Did they not give you anything after your surgery? They gave me percocet but it just made me sick so I had to switch to vicodin.

Hi Lecia,
I appreciate all the support.
I guess the ligasure, is like a sealing (cauterizing?), it may be like a harmonic scapel, but newer. It cuts and seals at the same time. Supposedly it is supposed to give less pain, but I don't believe it! I had lots of pain and bleeding, it basically never stopped during the last 11 weeks. The Dr. has apologized for the pain, but that doesn't do me much good. It was VERY painful. Sounds like you can relate to the pain.
I did sign a consent before the scope, not knowing what I was getting into. The consent for possible hemmroid and/or polyp removal, if needed. No information about possible side effects, pain, etc. I was very uninformed, my fault and my dr's.
Wishing you a safe trip and a good appointment. Hope all goes well for you today. I live in a small town with no specialists, I tried a specialist about an hour from here but he was very uncaring and quick. He took about 5 minutes and didn't ask me any questions. I felt like he was protecting other Dr.

I did get a prescription for percocet also, made me very sick, so I am not taking it. I now have Darvocet, but they don't seem to want to give me much since it's been 11 weeks. Ibuprofen starts bothering my stomache after a few days. I keep hoping I won't need much longer.
I do have a prescription for flexeril for my neck, haven't tried that during the day because it makes me tired. Maybe should try that more.

Lecia,
I like the little bunnies on the bottom of your replies.
I need to ask about Tramadol.
Thanks!

Thanks Tabby,
This forum is great! It is very informative and supportive.
Has your cream worked for you yet?
My current Dr. didn't think the ointment was working the way it should, so unfortunately I have only been applying it correctly (internally) about 3 days. I am very anxious for it to start working. The last 6 weeks have been very discouraging for me, actually the whole 11 weeks have been. Praying every day that things would get better. 6 more weeks before any other treatments seems like a long time away.

The Dr's all seem to want to recommend metamucil, although the last one recommended Konsyl or Benefiber.
