Hi,
Yes, still wonderful five years post LIS this past week. The first surgery doesn’t really count to me. The LIS was the one that worked. I never have a problem and I have a BM like I always have in the last. I have had a few tiny fissures that were instantly fixed by a quick 20 minute warm sitz bath on top of the toilet (no tub needed). I can confidently say I will never be bothered by a chronic fissure again. And if I ever have a BM where it is so hard and compacted that it will not come out no matter how hard I strain I do not strain anymore. I use my index finger to dig it out and help it out. I have only had to so that a few times in five years. No strain, no blood, no fissure. Easy and effective. LIS was the best decision!

The reason a fissure can take forever to heal is mental. We tighten up for fear of pain and by tightening up we restrict the blood flood needed to heal the fissure and the cycle repeats itself endlessly. Then we take medications to make it easier like a stool softeners which can make the stool too soft and you tighten up even more. The stool must be bulky for a healthy normal BM.
Sitz baths after a BM are great and I recommend them. But if you are still having problems after you have a BM all while still doing sitz baths afterwards you should see the specialist again for further discussion. After the LIS and skin tag removal you should be on easy street.
