MPB Yes thanks that is what I was thinking too. Seems like a good sign... I never knew those things could cause so much trouble either.. But that Diosomin seems to be working.. makes sense that when they shrink the muscles will calm and stop the tailbone area ache. As you said the Botox seemed to heal the fissure pretty well, so grateful for that. It's only been about a month since he said it was healed. I suppose will still take time for everything to simmer down, those muscles from those spasms were so overworked they are just now seeming to calm alittle bit anyway. Now seems more like a dull higher up ache, lots of healing going on.. As you know depends on the day!

GG,, That happens to me when my fiber is too high, if I overdo the flax I get the same thing... the doctor recommended Konsyl suppose to help without the bloat and cramping, have not tried it yet. He said you can get it at Wal mart etc. :o

GG, Is any of your pain or discomfort coming from the coccyx area,?and or feel as though it is radiating from those attached muscles, etc. lev/pelvic floor sling that is tender and still probably spasming? It seems to be more like a horseshoe surrounding the tailbone into the buttocks? hard to describe.

Hi GG,
Having a slight flare at the moment so not doing too good but will be upping my meds today....but it's a fine line between a normal stool and constipation.
The amytriptiline hasn't done anything for my cramps but the gabapentin does help them. It's so hard to find something that's works consistently well.
That area is so sensitive now that unless I have a Bristol 3 I think I will always get discomfort and that turns into pain when my crohns or IBS plays up. But I'm still very glad I had the LIS

Sadly I don't seem to tolerate konsyl either...I've always found fibre to be rough on the ibs, and my system is currently so sensitive...best avoided I guess! Luckily bms seem ok without it.

When things are very painful, i find many of my pelvic floor muscles are tense. When things were at their worst, I had trouble urinating because of the pelvic tightness. I've never really felt it in my tailbone but my fissure was at the front so that may explain why. But actually, yesterday I had a bit of trouble with a bm, and was quite aggravated after, back to the feeling of having a golf ball in the rectum. This feeling is caused by pressure or tension in the puborectalis muscle - it can also be caused by stool in the rectum so that's why it feels as though there is a ball in there. I think - and my physio agrees - that all the tightness stems from the inner anal sphincter and that when it is particularly aggravated and tight, it's contraction will "pull" on the surrounding muscles. These muscles respond to being stretched by contracting - so then the puborectalis contracts and the golf ball sensation returns.

Aw no - sorry to hear that mpb. Have you looked into maybe getting massage or something? My physio does it for me when I'm really not doing it well and it may not help a ton with the pain but does at least make me feel better overall. I also made a post in the general AF board about my visits to the psychologist - you may find some of those things helpful.

I'm the same as you - Bristol 3 seems to be the least pain inducing. I think I will just try and stay away from the psyllium and flax for a few days and if I'm still cramping then I will consider the amytriptiline.

I'm wondering now if I have a severe sensitivity to these kinds of husks/seeds - On a trip last year I had the most horrible ibs pain ever after eating a gluten free granola bar with flax and sesame. Then again after using a sesame dressing on salad...and last week with psyllium and this week with ground flax that I put in muffins!! Hunh.

Yes everytime I read a post from someone who had a fissure, or hemmorhoid banding or surgery or pelvic floor dysfunction these are always generally the same symptoms. Even if the causes are different. GG Yes, the specialist told me also that if you have swollen veins and inflammation, which we all do with this, internal high up it can cause that pulling knotted golf ball feeling and will pull on all of those connective tissues and muscles. ( it does remind me of how it felt right after having a baby, ) But it always went away withing 6 weeks. So it seems this is the result in most all cases. Hard for me to distinquish the burning, aching from the pulling tightening. I was reading posts from Healing through diet, I assume healed now, My Poor Butt maybe you have heard if Healing through Diet has recovered well? Also someone called ButtQueen seemed to have similar symptoms and has also recovered well. I have read soo much about this and it does all seem to point to it will eventually subside. Slowly but surely.

Well just been for a very watery BM only to find a toilet pan full of blood...don't know whether this is my crohns playing up or my fissure has reopened after my bad week...so much blood and clots too so I'm hoping it's my crohns.
Waiting for the pain to kick in now....and I can tell I will be going again...it's so downheartening after I have had a few really good weeks. But this is how my colon can be

Oh no mbp, I'm sorry things aren't going well. Perhaps it was an internal hem? That happened to me once a couple years ago and it freaked me out but was painless.

Sending you hugs and healing thoughts

MBP.. Hopefully it's jut a hem or the chrohns, Really this will pass soon, so many ups and downs, can you write down what you ate, maybe when you introduce another food it triggers it again? Our systems are so temper mental...There has got to be something we can do to all get better. Needing some Prayer warriors. One prayer more prayer could be the one that changes everything:)
