Yea but I couldn't take the cold! Lol. I tried dilating this evening again very very slowly but with a tiny butt plug I ordered when this all started and it didn't go badly! Just a slight sting at the 12pm position but nothing unbearable. I'm just trying everything to sort the itch out and in my silly mind I thought it would be a good idea. Well, it wasn't terrible!
Suffering since June 2013

Methods tried:
GTN cream - migraines!
Manuka Honey / Coconut oil / Aloe
tag excision X 2, botox x 3
Dilatiazem
dilatation 2 X daily + Retin-C Vitamin Scar Treatment Oil 2 X daily - best thing ever.
Now pain free 2/7/21

Tried to post, it cleared the whole thing!! So will try again.

It's been exactly a month post op, had my appointment through for follow up with my CRS end of this month... He told me three months but will be good to catch up with him. I had a work meal yesterday and was worried about the pain/itch that was building throughout the day. So I used my fragrance free baby wipes from sainsburys. My pain got instantly worse just inside the sphincter. Ripping/itching pain x100. No idea why!!! It settled once I got home after an awful meal and sat in the bath. I'm meant to be going to a theme park tomorrow with my friends but I'm not as good as I thought I'd be. Sigh. I guess I can be the cameraman!

Sorry that happened! I never use wipes on my bum, only dab with wet sterile wound pads. Expensive but the only thing thing that worked for me. Also, dilation ( a bore but eventually after a year worked for me). God luck at the theme park!!!

Hey everyone,

My op is becoming a memory now and I can't recall this time of the morning if it's been 5 or 4 weeks. I feel 90% there, I just have a cronic itch there most of the time at the 11-1 position but this morning I've had a bit more niggly propper pain there (3/10 on pain scale) no blood on bm or anything. could this be the scar tissue still 5 weeks post op?

Glad to hear that things are still improving. When do you see your CRS again?

It's very difficult to differentiate wonky nerves from scar tissue. It's still early to know, I think. Hang in there.

My CRS is next friday so a week to go. I have no clue what to say to him? it feels like I'm 90% there most of the time then suddenly get a huge twang of pain that sharply reminds me of what I'm stuck with. Still no blood on BM (its been a month now without blood!) there was a tiny few dots on a hard stool that passed 2 days ago but that might have been red pepper... couldn't tell lol.

I don't know if I need a second round of Botox as he didn't do it last time but I must be on the way to recovery now, I'm so much better than what I was a year ago. I remember this time last year going to a charity ball in Cardiff and I had the biggest peri-anal rash going (I'm sure I could find the post on this diary if I looked hard enough) but every step was agony as the rash was breaking open and the 3 fissures I had at the time were bleeding daily. In my naieve mind I thought moisture was the answer so slathered on as much moisturising coconut butter going. that just made everything 10 times worse!!! Oh isn't it weird how you can look back on yourself and laugh. I know so much more now!

Hey ff,

Thanks for this. It has helped. I too (same as Alyssa) had a colonoscopy before my latest surgery. The preparation was the worst part by far! I had picoprep 3 times. Lots of liquid BM and drank liters to flush it out. Not eating for 24 hrs (nearly 36hrs after waiting room) was the hardest part. The procedure was fine, general anesthetic, and actually dilated by sphincter so BM for the next few days were easier.

Can I ask, you put the Manuka honey on your colon as you would a GTN cream? It really helps?

It's almost in reaching distance. I had a very low day today, bit more pain than usual in the morning after my bm. I think everything has finally caught up with me. My house purchase is going nowhere and my solicitors fees keep going up, I'm trying to organise a new job soon so worried about shift work again, big problems with the ex that I can't hide from. It's all just too much for me really. I just hope I'm going to heal soon, I'm holding onto that - it's all I got.

Anyway, yes I just put the medical Manila honey on the sphincter and just inside too. You don't need much. We will get there one day, praying for happier times.
