To both of you,
Have you seen a pain management specialist to at least manage the pain as best you can while trying different procedures??
What medications have worked for you? I find endep which is an old anti depressant they use for nerve pain helps keep the edge of it. I have also been given lyrica which I take a small dose each morning, helps make the post bowel movement pain a bit more bearable. My pain always seems to peak about 2-3 hours after each bowel movement, however I still have a constant 24/7 burning pain which isn't always so severe.
My pain is mostly rectal and left sided.
I read this today from a chronic pain study:
"In the last five years, we have gained really clear evidence that the severity of pain in the acute phase is a risk factor for chronic pain," Cousins says.
In other words, if you suffer stoically through an episode of acute pain, you could be setting yourself up for a chronic pain problem down the track.
In other words fix your fissure fast in the acute phase before the nerve pain pathways become set?
