Hello,

I am pretty much the same level I was two weeks ago. Fissure is not healed, spasms are are still there. Doctor still didn't respond. Also I am not aware about biopsy results and further actions to undertake.

I have sent reminded to dr W, hopefully they will respond soon.

Oh dear...... I was hoping you would be a little further along in your recovery than that.
I hope you can get hold of him soon.... I'm having trouble getting through to him also.

Is your pain level the same or reduced??

Hello,

Pain levels are much less than before, and BM is easier to pass. So I am almost 2 months post LIS. Fissure unfortunately is not healed. I am starting to feel a bit tense again. Probably as per studies reported muscle regains it strength. What I definitely know now that tension and spasm is my problem. And as my wound is much bigger than regular fissure and I was suffering already 1 year, perhaps it is too tight even for standard LIS.

My believe is that I am from that percent whom requires second LIS to relax muscle down there. And that is the message I am about to send to mr W. in next weeks. Life is better, I am eating almost everything except floury. I also drink beer times to times now. Actually I found it helps with pain after BM, so I take beer instead of pain killers LOL :)

PS: I got answer from doctor regarding biopsy and it does not show any thing abnormal. So no Crohns..

I'm glad it's not Crohns, Igrik.
I'm really sorry you are not making better progress. It must be very disappointing for you. Maybe a second LIS is the answer, or if you are very tight, maybe a controlled dilitation?
Anyway it's good to hear that life is better for you. Thanks for the update.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Igrik I hope your Crs agrees to a secon lis. I am 3 weeks out and my fissure is not healed yet either. I understand that surgeons don't want us incontinent but I'd rather be out of pain and have a little skidmark! Please continue to keep us posted.

Hey Igrik

How are you doing now?

I dont think you should give up hope just yet. These things takes a long time to heal, and if yours were deep, Im sure yours need more time than smaller fissures. Remember the 95% healing rate, and that those 5% that dont heal, usually has other problems as well, that prevents healing.

All the best

Hi Igrik,

I hope you are doing alright. I have had nearly the exact same experience as you from reading through your accounts. I had a hemm surgery that never healed, then I had LIS, which helped, but did not entirely heal the remaining wound. I actually had my 3rd round botox 3 months after the LIS surgery, which sufficiently convinced me and multiple surgeons that muscle spasm was NOT the problem in my case. We therefore opted for a y-v advancement flap to cover the remaining wound, which I underwent 10 days ago. I would suggest that you consider this procedure, or a different shaped flap, with your surgeon before undergoing a second LIS, because it is not entirely certain that a muscle spasm is the cause of your condition. It's possible that just too much tissue was removed during the initial surgery, leaving a wound that is unfortunately too wide to fill itself in without adding some tissue to the area. Although the recovery is considered longer, I would opt for a y-v before a second LIS because there is very little chance of sphincter damage. I actually also got botox (my 4th round) at the same time as the surgery, which has helped alleviate the tension in the area. Best of luck with whatever you decide.

Hi OMB!

I am pretty much the same. BMs are still a bit painful, but what is good, no spasms afterwards, which makes me only uncomfortable during BM, but the rest of life can be liven in regular way. No after BMs bed time and etc..

I checked recently and wound is not completely healed yet, but it is smaller at least it looks like. I am almost 4 months after LIS.
