Aahhh.... Restful day today. My knight in shining armour was home today, so he took charge and I reclined all day. I put a bit of medihoney on this morning and will use again in a bit when I go to bed. It can't hurt to use it can it?? It's just sterilised medical manuka honey.... I've just heard its good for wounds of all kinds. Stung like..... A bee.... When I put it on... But now just feels nasty and sticky!

I think I will email mr w again and ask for pain relief suggestions... I'm sure he must regret taking me on!!! I would!! Lol

Hope everyone is hanging on in there!

Thank you W's.... And sleep tight! Xx

Glad to hear you got a restful day OMB. I too used Manuka honey on my fissure...once...it burned so bad I wished I could get it all off but had to live with it the rest of the day. Won't try that again. It's too bad because I do believe that it is a great healer.

maybe I'm just a snobby american, but if I were you I would drive to his office tomorrow and insist that he spends 5 seconds looking at the painful patch you are describing. If you have an infection, he can and should address it immediately...if you do not, then at least you will have peace of mind. You are in 7-8 pain most of the day, you are in enough pain that you can't concentrate or keep up with daily activities 5+ weeks out of surgery. You went to the ER once... You need to see a colorectal surgeon promptly. I wouldn't email him anymore. I understand that UK has longer waits than the US, but I would call his office and let them know that you are on your way to the office unless he can find a colleague to see you.

Hugs to you, OMB. I feel for you.............Hope you get relief soon. It's awful to think of you in this pain.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Hope you are seeing Mr. W soon, OMB. I know it's a trip to get to see him, but maybe he'll be able to sort it out, and maybe he can recommend someone closer to home who can keep track of things. I live in the US (English though) and it can be just as difficult as the NHS to see someone when you need to. Took me four months to see a CRS close to home, so all is not rosy in the US medical system... My best experiences were when I lived in Denmark for caring doctors and access to them.

Thinking of you :smilyhug:

Thankyou dear Sav xxxx

Things are much the same..... Maybe a tad better the last couple of days... I think!
I am continuing with the wound honey. I have to make sure I use a barrier cream over my bum area then apply a dab of honey directly to the raw patch. It stings like buggery when it first goes on, but then settles down. It doesn't feel great, but a friend of mine works in a nursing home and says they use it all the time for bed sores and the such with good results.

I have found out the proper name for my flap... It's mucosal flap. It is mostly used for higher up fistulas. ( well, that's what mr google has told me!)

Asdf.... Unfortunatly, me just demanding to see him and just turning up would almost certainly result in my arrest here in the uk. I have been in touch with both him and his secretary, and as he thinks it's still early, and there's nothing really else at this stage that can be done, I will wait to see him. I have to be very British about it... Get out my stiff upper lip and patiently wait in the orderly queue!!

Hugs to you, OMB!! It's so hard to be patient and mature when dealing with this level of pain. I'm wishing for more good days than bad for you!

I just think that if you are worried you have an infection, that it should be seen by a colorectal surgeon, preferably the one who did the cutting so he knows what he is looking at...

Tony Dixon did reply to me, and said that flaps can be repeated or revised, but did not elaborate. So that is two UK doctors who have written studies on anoplasty who say that it's at least possible that I can be re-flapped. My CRS has enlisted the help of a plastic surgeon and said we are going to move forward with a re-flap. I am waiting for the date of the surgery, and waiting to hear the type of flap they have elected to do. I am very anxious about the whole thing because I know it's going to be severely painful again for a few weeks or months at least...and I'll probably have a bigger flap this time round, which means even more pain...I have too much time too, so I keep second guessing whether or not I should just quit before one of these surgeries kills me...I go back and forth. I know that it won't heal without surgery though, and I don't know if I can just quit now that I've tried so hard to fix this. It's mental agony. I hope you feel better soon.

Asdf... I can completely understand your delema, it's tough making the decision to go through painful surgery, that may or may not work.
For what it's worth, if I was you ( which I technically am if this surgery has failed ) I would leave everything well alone for at least a year. See how far you can go with natural healing. You may get yourself to a stage where you can manage to live with discomfort... You might find that a whole year without intervention, or stress thinking about more surgery, may just be the key. If after a year things are just as bad, then maybe re think surgery??
Obviously, that's just how I feel about it, and I know how desperately sad you are about your situation, and I can see you don't want to give up without a fight.

Thanks. Yea I was thinking about something like that except that my fissure or wound or whatever it is seems to discharge a bit when it is aggravated (graphic- sorry), and it's gross. It's been happening ever since day 1 of the hemmie recovery, and all the surgeons say this is just the wound discharging and cleaning itself as it tries to heal...I've never had the chance to test their word because it's never healed. For instance today, like 5 hours after my bm, I wiped my butt just to check before a shower, and there is light pinkish blood-muscous like stuff on the toilet paper. it happens more when I used to work out or just have had bad bowel movement... It's very little and some people might not even notice it at all, but I am OCD about it and I can't stand it and I just want it to heal for good and pray that it goes away. I did have LIS and botox and number of times, but these surgeries don't seem to have made it any worse at all, to my knowledge, but I can't know for sure until a doctor confirms that I no longer have any open wounds in my butt.

My flap surgery was 7 months ago, and by the time I have this surgery that will be 8 more or less, so I tend to think that if it didn't heal by now it's not going to be anywhere else in another 4 months... Also, if I hold off and try to go back to work, I'll have to take off of brand new job again for surgery in a few months, which is hard to explain. I don't know though, I go back and forth, as you say, for good reason.
