You are almost a month out from surgery. I wouldn't completely write off the surgery as a failure just yet. It's still definitely possible that you can heal. Maybe the flap made the wound small enough that it can heal with just some time or conservative measures alone. I would suggest HBOT but I know you had said that is hard to find where you live. HBOT was truly torture anyway; I can't believe I suffered through 56 of those treatments for nothing.

OMB - I agree with asdf about not using topical ointments. Especially good you removed the cortisone. If anything maybe just a small amount of antibiotic ointment or better yet the Aquaphor that Suzy mentioned. I am going to look for that myself. I understand how you would want a barrier or lubrication though. I keep hoping tomorrow will be a better day for you.

asdf - I appreciated reading all the information in your post. It provided me with some insight on potential outcomes and options. You sound very knowledgeable about the surgeries and can see that you have some hard choices to make. Sorry you are having such a rough go of it, my heart goes out to you.

Thanks asdf, yes..... I'm still living in hope I can heal.
W'S ....I'm not using anything again, just a tiny blob of some water soluable cream the hospital gave my dad when he had surgery a few weeks ago, for a bm... Then shower it off and then nothing.
A friend of mine who works in a nursing home says they all swear by medihoney.... They use it on bed sores etc.. She says it's great. I have got some, and may use some at a later date.

Today has been a better day.... Even did my ice bucket challenge I'd been nominated for! Paying for it a bit now though... Bum is yanging!

I had a response from mr W's secretary.... He is on annual leave until mon 1st sept. she offered me an appointment with another crs, but I just declined and said I'd wait for mr w to get back. There's nothing than can be done at the moment anyway, so another couple of weeks really doesn't matter.

You are so brave, OMB.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Sav.... Thanks for the hugs... They are very much appreciated. How are you?? You've gone very quiet about yourself.... Are you getting on ok???

Much of the same today. I take ibuprofen am before my bm and that helps to dull the pain for most of the day. I don't take any more after that, as I'm not doing anything, so can put up with the pain from late afternoon. I don't like to take too much ibuprofen as it is not great for your stomach.
I do find if I stand for too long I get pretty puffy down there, and it feels swollen. Luckily I can just retreat to the couch!

Unfortunatly I don't think I am making progress Apes.... Pretty painful today, and the pain woke me last night... That very rarely happens.
Things are looking red and inflamed... I have a feeling the infection has crept back. It feels very warm down there too. I'll try and get a drs appt tomorrow. Hopefully I shall hear back from mr w this week.... If need be ill just pay to see a crs locally to me just to make sure I'm not growing an abcess or fistula or something equally sinister.

And so it goes on.........
