Did it feel that way the moment you touched it or after you stretched a bit? I ask because I remember when I was really relaxed in there from botox I could get an incredible stretch but then it burned afterwards like searing pain all around. I concluded it was some sort of nerve pain and tried to be very careful how much I stretched things and took it really slow (which I'm sure you are). I guess what I thought happened was that maybe the muscle was very relaxed but the nerves were not ready to be stretched that much. Did it subside after? My tissues are like that now after the LIS. So so sore and burny, especially on the area around the incision site. I hope it calms down soon.

The canal feels tender to the touch the moment i touch it.. I definitely know the nerves are involved hence the burning pain ... But now the question is, is it the muscles that is irritating the nerves or the nerves tightening the muscles? No one seems to be able to tell...

So it's worse since the recent botox? I don't know why but I have had this after botox too. I think I have it from the LIS too to be honest. I can't tell what is stinging from the cuts and what is muscle or nerve pain. I sure hope it gets better soon. Don't know how things have tightened up on me again but they sure have. A colostomy is sounding really good to me now!

I have found that when this burning happens that it does subside, usually in a few weeks or a month or so. I think it is the other muscles/nerves adapting to the changes down there. It would explain why both the LIS and botox have done it to me. The muscles not affected now have more work to do so they burn. Just try to take it easy and try to remain calm and tell yourself it will get better. :smilyhug:

My anal canal feels tender as well. It's like the bowel motion irritates it each day and it's hyper sensitive. The muscle spasm and burning always follows.

I have had some progress with the dilation though. The severe spasms would normally get so bad I would end up having a day resting on the bed sometimes. I haven't had that happen for a while now. I have been able to keep fairly active for most of the day.

Not better but overall I would say improved to the point that my outlook on life is more positive.

Let's just hope a severe flare up isn't around the corner!

Pafen,

Great to hear that dilation is working for you; I've only used the wand or my finger so far and the skin is so tender it's so painful; last night I was massaging the anus and crying at the same time. I only get the burning pain when pressure is applied to the rectum (sitting); it starts of low but by the end of the work day, my Anus is on fire...

Msimon,

A colorectal surgeon once offered me the idea of a temporary colostomy. However he then went on to say that he couldn't guarantee that would help my pain. I could never do that though, I would rather take some pain medication and continue to be as active as I can. He told me the pain was likely nerve related and reassured me that I was anatomically normal.

He had examined me multiple times.

Pafen, I feel that my situation is very similar to mine. I can see that my newest deep fissure has healed over, yet I am in constant burning pain. I am at a loss as to what to do or try next?

Can you describe the burning pain? Is it there all the time? Is there anything that aggravates it?

I too have the burning pain; the burning intensity increases with the longer I sit... I have painful bowel movements as though the stool is scrapping the tender anal canal; the dilation is extremely painful at this point but I've only been doing it for almost two weeks. I feel as though it is helping with the sitting burning pain... But dilation is so freaking painful; I don't know what else to do either my next appointment is January 12... doctor has suggested a nerve block (over email) but she wants to reevaluate me before me make any other decisions.

I just don't believe that an anal fissure could have caused all this...

It feels like a burning rod stuck up m bum. It's there virtually all the time now.
You are very brave sticking with the dilation. I don't think I could face that. Have you thought about lubricating your dilator with something like instilligel. It's a local anaesthetic gel you can get prescribed.

I have also come across a site which I think is very interesting...
