Hey m. I see things are not going the best for you. We just have to keep keeping on. It is really good the infection is no longer present. Very good. I wish I had more to encourage you with today but I just kinda feel empty. I am sure it will pass.

Thanks for the ongoing support everyone. I went 11 days without bleeding on my BM but it has started again. A little bit yesterday and yet I had one of the least painful days for a while. I actually baked a cake! But then this morning bled more and am really sore and spasmy feeling :(

I just don't know what to think. It's been a month now since this wound was laid open and I don't know if this is to be expected or if I am going to be screwed as it sure feels like a fissure all over again. It sounds like it was about 1.5cm in diameter, which would be a damn large fissure, IMO. How long do you think it should take to heal this thing? And to stop bleeding? I finally healed my fissure up only to have this to deal with. I feel like I just can't take it anymore!

See my CRS this Thursday and hopefully will get some answers. Think I may have to botox the internal sphincter as it is so tight during BM I think this is a big part of the problem.

I'm sorry you still have this uphill struggle going on.

I am sure it will take at least a couple of months to heal a fistula as it heals from the inside up. My large fissure I had from the flap surgery took near on 5 months to heal.

Unfortunatly it's the the same old mantra.... Patients and time, patients and time.

I hope you get some more insight into how things are doing on Thursday.

Well my CRS was painfully thorough with his assessment and left me quite sore. Quite a bit of bleeding today :(

He said that the unroofing has basically evolved now to a fissure (4 X 2 mm) and it ends right at the anal verge so he is not surprised by the bleeding and spasms. He also poked around and felt the swelling didn't hold any fluid or infection so that is good. I have another follow up in 2 weeks, at which time he thought it should be healed. Seemed very confident of it since I had the LIS. I hope he is right!

Other than the painful exam, that sounds like quite a positive result. I hope that he is right and things improve for you soon.

Thanks for asking Still hoping. I haven't had much reprieve from pain, especially in the several hours after my BMs in the morning. I am wondering if I am keeping things too soft (at times is almost watery and always a bit caustic) but I really don't think I would be able to pass anything formed so I continue with this. I assume it's just irritating and not harmful as this seems to be the only way I don't bleed. I am scared to say (because I usually jinx myself) but the bleeding has mostly stopped and there is a lot less drainage, almost none. Unfortunately though it feels just like a bad fissure now :( The area is so sore and spasmy I can hardly touch it and that includes having my hubby take a look so I don't know if it is actually healing or not. I sure hope so. I have another follow up with the CRS on the 26th and I am already afraid to let him near me! Don't know what I am going to do about that but I guess he has to look on account of the infection...

How are you doing? Any improvement/next steps?
