How did your appointment go yesterday? I hope it was ok and not a painful exam. How are things compared to last week?

Thanks Still Hoping and OMB. You guys are so sweet to ask

My appointment went okay. I let my CRS know how much he hurt me last time and that I was really worried that he would tear me as it is so delicate and I am having a tough time making any gains. He was quite gentle and just took a peek. Said that he was really happy with how it looked in that the swelling in the area was much reduced and the incision area had a thin epithelial layer on it. I am to see him again in 2.5 weeks to check on things again. Evertime I see him he says "hopefully it will be healed in 2 more weeks"!

My pain is still really bad and my CRS is not surprised as he said it is behaving like a fissure. Right now I am having spasming all through my pelvic floor and physio just seems to be making it worse. Don't know what to do anymore. I guess at least it is healing but that is so hard to celebrate when you don't feel any better, or even worse (I know both of you can relate to that). :verysad:

I'm glad that you told your CRS about how he hurt you before. It can be hard to speak up in these appointments. I just saw mine just two days ago for some new rectal bleeding and he said he was just going to take a look. Well, he looked and found a break in the skin and then he decided to probe the external anal sphincter, the very muscle that has been spasming and I have been working hard to get it to relax. And I told him not to make it cranky but he did anyway. Sigh... Maybe he was making sure it wasn't anything else?

It's good that there has been some healing and less swelling. And that he was gentle. At least there is some forward progress even if it is slow. I'm sorry the physio doesn't seem to be helping. It's so frustrating when progress is so slow. And hard to be patient when you're having pain and you've already been patient for so long. I'm hoping for continued healing for you. :smilyhug:

How are you msimon? Have you started on any better pain meds yet??
Maybe the physio you are seeing is not the right one for you. Try giving it a rest for a couple of weeks and seeing what happens??

Thanks all.

Well, things have taken a bad turn for the worse. Out of nowhere this week I started bleeding A LOT with my BMs. I had a follow up with my CRS on Thursday and after some torturous prying he confirmed that my incision site had opened up again :sadd: . It was almost covered with new tissue when I saw him 3 weeks ago. I just don't know what I am going to do. When I told him about the bleeding he really seemed to think it was hemmies but nope. He really seemed at a loss. Blamed it on my pelvic floor and genes for red hair (saying we have thinner skin). Didn't seem to think it was a sphincter spasm issue and that more surgery wasn't warranted. He also told me that I should expect bleeding off and in in that area for years to come! I never heard this before. Apparently because I have had 2 surgeries in the area I guess?

I actually asked him about a colostomy and he told me that they only do that for extreme cases. So I don't know what to do but I told him I have totally lost hope. He still remains 'optimistic'. I am 10 weeks out from my unroofing surgery and 5 months out from LIS. Is this even remotely understandable? Should I seek another opinion?

I just can't believe that my 5 month journey through hell has led me here. I basically now have the same thing as before the surgery only on the side and not at the back. And PTSD from the hell of 2 extremely painful surgeries :~!@:

I am crying for you too.

I would seek a second opinion myself though, because your current CRS may at this point, be covering his own arse if it was his work that has caused you all of this grief.

Hugs to you and I hope that your wound gets its healing act in gear again soon!
