I didn't know that banding caused scarring. Very interesting indeed.

But I think that everything you've reported today sounds very positive. Your fissures have healed, and the surgeon removed the scar tissue. Going forward, hopefully you'll recover quickly from today's cuts, and then be on your way back to full health very soon!

Yea he said I had a large amount of chronic anterior scar tissue on my discharge summary. I slept ok last night but woke up at 5am in quite a lot of pain that's not subsided. Taken some pain relief so waiting for that to kick in. What a long road this has been...

Great news!! Hopefully the scar tissue will settle down soon and you will feel better. Maybe knowing you are healed will give you a psychological boost as well and help things feel better x

Thanks everyone. Trying not to over post but want to keep track of this. Just had my first BM, couldn't see the dressing come out but it was agony with quite a bit of blood. Felt like 100 new fissures all appearing at once at the 12 position - this was where they took the old scar tissue from. I'm sat on my bottle now after having a sitz bath. I'm so grateful he's signed me off for 2 weeks.

Cutting away the scar tissue sounds like it could be about the same amount of pain as a hemmorhoidectomy, which is extremely painful. Let's hope that each and every day brings improvement and that you'll finally have your life back soon.

Nothing wrong with 'over posting' FF, as this is a forum just to keep a record for yourself of what is happening. Whatever helps you!

Glad you have time off to recover. Don't forget using a Sitz bath, and (yucky, I know) poop in it if it relieves the pain of the BM.

BM number two, day two post op. Agony!!!! So painful at 12 where he cut the scar tissue out. Pain around 10/10 right now. Sat in the bath praying for the pain to stop. Ow ow ow ow ow.

Sounds like what I went through with my unroofing surgery for my infection. So painful I thought I was either going to vomit or pass out, or both. It will get better. Hang in there. Do you have pain meds?

yea got pain meds all stocked up but dont want to over use them in case I get constipated. BM today was agony once again - 10/10. cried my eyes out in the bath after It's ironic my fissure at 6pm isnt the slightest bit painful anymore its all at 12pm where he took away all the skin. I had a look and theres like a V shaped cut in the outside sphincter at 12 where I'm guessing all the scar tissue goes, I can't look inside but it feels the cut goes quite a way up. I'm so lucky to have these two weeks off!!!
