MPB yea all seems to be related to that area. Like you said not much else to do other then what is being done.

Hi MPB sounds like some progress over the few days. Yes the burning sensation lasts and lasts and certainly gets one down but it's better than agonizing pain. We have to count the positives don't we? Amytriptiline seems to be helping you that's great. How long have you been on it?
Take care friend HTD

Hi HTD,
Yes thankfully the amitryptiline has calmed my colon so just going once a day now...I hope...been on it for 2 weeks and can if needed up the dose but my liver didn't like the high dose last time I tried it.
Oh goodness yes I will take burning over spasms any day at least with the burning it's background pain...annoying...but you can carry on with your life. Unlike the soul destroying agony of spasms.
How have you been Hun

Things sound great mpb!!! I'm so happy to hear that your situation seems to be increasingly manageable. You deserve any relief you can get.

And agreed with the burning. It's reassuring to hear you and HTD have a similar feeling to me. I'm finding the burning is only for a short time after bm, and then whenever I stand too long. It is SO annoying, and still "painful" (but really is anything painful after full blown fissure spasm hell?), prob a 3 at the worst.

BUT I think it is VERY slowly improving...we'll see what the physio says on Wednesday, she will tell me if my muscles have been able to relax any more.

Still thinking of you mpb!!! Hugs

Hi GG,
Yes it's def so much better than it was thanks mainly to just going once a day. Yes standing still sets the burning off even if I haven't had a BM. Yet I can swim and do a bit of Pilates I even jogged for 2 mins on the treadmill today with no pain...so why does standing still actually hurt...very strange....maybe you could ask your physio lol.
Yes I think once you have experienced the pain of a spasms that anything less than a 6/7 on the pain scale seems like nothing.
Glad that things are still improving for you too GG it's good to hear from you
Take care x

Wow! Pilates yoga and jogging! Sounds positive and progress. And add swimming to that list! Even under the most ideal circumstances I am a terrible swimmer can barely do Half a length without panting! So hats off to you for keeping all that going. Sooo proud of you!

Yes I actually enjoyed the Pilates although I didn't do any of the sitting postures obviously lol. Not sure anyone else would class what I do on the treadmill as jogging but hey it feels like it to me and that's what counts. I must admit that swimming still makes it a bit sore but I think that's because I do breaststroke....tried crawl last week and hurt my hips lol.
But hey who knows how long this level of pain is going to last so I'm living my life as I would if there was no fissure...as long as I don't have any spasms though.
Had a BM this morning quite a large Bristol 3/4 and sure enough an hour later the burning started. I don't mind really just would be nice to be totally pain free....I am still eternally grateful to be spasm free though and pray everyday they never return

That's great that you're able to do all that mpb! But I know what you mean, it's so frustrating to be close, but still in pain.

Do you find the pilates aggravates things? It may not be true for you, but with any personal training clients with tight pelvic floor, I would avoid most core isolation exercises (especially ones where you sit a v, like in the "hundreds" move in pilates). It can really engage the pelvic floor, which is maybe not beneficial if the ultimate goal is to relax the muscles down there. Just a thought! If you're looking to do some core work, I could maybe help point you to some less "pelvic floor focused" exercises you could add in.
