Thanks guys. Enema was not possible, too painful. The on call surgeon sent me home with a peg colonoscopy prep solution to try. If it does not work I am to come back to emergency and they will contact my surgeon. If it's going ok or I can stand to wait I'm to try and go to my appointment with the surgeon at 2:15.

The on call surgeon didn't think there was any other option, that manually removing it would not be possible. The doctor on call said my surgeon may think differently but that she could o my take the surgeons advice.

So I'm going to try the peg now, this isn't gonna be fun

Thanks guys. That's exactly it mamafizz, a fast forward would be excellent.

My dad went right away to the only nearby pharmacy still open, and the pharmacist told him just to buy miralax. So he did and brought it home - but left the prescription with the pharmacist. So I had the wrong medication with no idea of what dose I was to take, and the pharmacy where he left the prescription was closed by the time he got home. I had to phone the emergency to see what was on file (peglyte two times daily, one cup) and sending poor Dad to another pharmacy 20 minutes away that was 24 hours to get the peglyte - which does have miralax in it, but has other ingredients and different dosing. So I didn't get to bed until about 2 am all said and done.

Not working so far, besides making me feel ill. Was able to get some gas out which relieved some stomach pain, but it's building again. I think chances are I'll be back at emergency today or tomorrow, I feel like this laxative is a waste of time, considering what needs to be softened is already in the rectum...it's got a long way to travel before then, in the meanwhile turning everything else into diarrhea. It's not going to fun once this gets going if it does

Goodness GG
That's ridiculous why on earth could they not give you the right stuff there and then...your poor dad and you being made to run around like that.
I agree I'm not sure how a laxative can work on something you can feel in your rectum, unless they are hoping the strength of the prep will just force it out.
You never know it might not be as bad as you think especially as once you have moved that stubborn bit you can stop the prep.
Are you seeing your surgeon today Hun?

That's what I'm hoping mpb! I'm a little worried about the possibility of the prep "forcing" it out as you say - I think it may do damage. But maybe I'm thinking the worst.

Yes - will be at the surgeons office at 2:15...unfortunately not at the hospital, so there's not much she can do but talk with me and take a look at the incision. She'll either send me home to keep trying or back to emergency. I know they also have slots for last minute OR bookings every afternoon at 3:30 - so if they need to put me out she may be able to swing that today or tomorrow.

This prep meanwhile is vile - and is giving me gas because it's flavoured with some sugar free sweetener. Absolutely disgusting tasting, like salty syrup. Fruit punch my butt lol

I have done a colonoscopy before and the Peg prep does have a weird taste. Hang in there GilmoreGirl. Hoping the stubborn bit comes out soon
