Hello I just had LIS 3 days ago. I am still in so much pain. But what is strange is my fissure was on the right and it hurts so bad and feels raw on my left side espically after a bowl movement. Is this normal? I am also so swollen and bruised. Sitz,baths make it burn so bad.

LIS surgery cuts the internal sphincter, not your fissure. My doctor specifically told me that he would be cutting the sphincter opposite to where the fissure was. I hope that you feel better soon.

Hi like CCC said they tend to make the cut on the side not affected by the fissure. It’s normal to be in pain as you have had quite a bit of poking around and have been cut in a very sensitive area. There will be swelling and hopefully the pain will decrease as your body starts to heal. Keep on top of the pain with painkillers and sitz baths
