I only just realised there's a page for diaries! So I'll move everything over here from the hemorrhoids/hemorrhoidectomy page.

Fri 25/10. Day 1. surgery day. 2 ext hems removed and 1 "mininal" sphincterotomy. Arrived at 1230, waited so long. Enema at 2, surgery finally at 430, discharged 8pm. Hospital like a factory, terrible. 3 hour drive home was super uncomfortable. Had a tramadol and slept.

Sat 26/10. Day 1, post surgery. Tramadol at midday. Pain only 4/5 except when occasional spasm. 1800hrs pain was worsening, so showered to remove packing and bandages. Nauseated after removal (bandage taped to buttocks and some internal gauze that took effort to remove). Took anti nausea pill. PM took stool softener (movicol and 2 ducolax pills) and bed.

Sun 27/10- day 2. woke up late. Rumbling belly but no BM. No painkillers all day but foolishly stood up all day. Silly me, feeling pretty good, wondering what others had complained about! PM had a salt bath and more softeners (movicol and ducolax).

Mon 28/10- day 3. 8am BM within half hour of waking. Burning pain, mostly at the 6oclock site. Cleaned with wet wipes, then showered, then salt bath. Pain persisted so took tramadol and slept. Worst pain today of all so far. Persistent 4/10 pain, but up to 8/10 during BM. Day spent on couch and bed. Ate oats, one piece of toast. Dreading BM tomorrow.

Tue 29/10- day 4. Took ibuprofen at 7am, hoping it would kick in by the time I needed a BM. Then back to bed for half hour. BM within 30 minutes of waking. Pain 6+/10 again. Quick shower then into salt bath. Pain back down to 3/10 after salt bath. No pain relief needed through day. Lots of lying about reading and tv. Still looks like a massacre. Why the he'll did I even look? Dark blue patch at 6oc. Maybe stitches? Maybe this is the sphincterotomy site?

Wed 30/10. Day 5. Pain overnight and hot sweats. Hoping no infection. Took ibuprofen and paracetamol at 7am, same as yesterday. BM at 8am. Not painful to do, but painful with wiping and stinging afterwards. Salt bath immediately after. Another BM at 930. Another bath. This time I blotted with a warm, wet wash cloth. A bit better, but same stinging pain. Third BM at 1330. Again blotted with warm wet washer and had a salt bath. Spent all day on my feet and paying for it in the evening. Constant stinging, especially at that 6oclock site. 5pm and keen for bed. Made a Dr appt for Monday so I can get another week off work. Wound still looks awful. Maybe even worse than before. Only took movicol this evening as I've only eaten half a dozen rice cakes and some oats with fruit.

Thu 31/10. Day 6. Same drill with the painkillers early, then BM. BM still super sloppy, and almost acidic feeling. Afterwards had a quick shower, then a salt bath for 10 minutes. I'm wondering if the salt in the bath (Epsom and normal salt) are causing more stinging? Did a little bit of raking and vacuuming, figured if the pain is constant I might as well get some blood flowing. Lat down for a bit then another BM at 1200. Again, no pain or blood doing the BM but the 6oclock site stings like a mofo when I woke, even if it's just blotting with a wet washer. Blood on the washer- not heaps, maybe a teaspoon, but when I had a look it was coming from the gaping 6 o'clock wound. Trying not to stress about it. Jumped in the bath for some relief. Spent the rest of the afternoon feeling sorry for myself on the couch. Still bleeding when I checked later, with a dark red or blue lump at that same wound. Emailed the surgeon to ask advice. Just have to wait it out I suppose. Stinging pain was constant this afternoon. Sat in warm bath with couple drops of geranium oil in it (supposed to help heal wounds) as there's blood on my bum cheeks. Will try coconut oil over the next couple of days to see if that helps.

Fri 1/11 day 7. Well, this time last week I was being wheeled into surgery. If only I knew then what I know now. Last night I ended up taking a tramadol. Also didn't have a BM this morning which is either because of the tramadol or because I haven't eaten much at all. Maybe both. After doing a few jobs this morning I went to bed at 11 and slept until 130pm. The tramadol leaves me feeling hungover. At 130 got up, had a bowl of cereal with yoghurt and berries and a coffee to see if things might move along. Had a very small BM and then into the bath. Such stinging, mostly at my left (4oclock?). Emailed the surgeon last night about the bloody looking lump and he said it sounds like a blood clot and should resolve. That's it. No more info. I want to know if this means it's like a thrombosed hem and should be excised or not, so replied with some questions. He said it shpuld be left alone and woukd heal in "a few weeks". Ugh. Seeing my Doc on Monday so I can ask her too. I just really want to turn a corner and be on the road to healing. At least the pain is ok unless I've had a BM. Went out for 3h to a function. Standing. Not too bad until I got home. Then quite painful. Took a bath and put on coconut oil and 100% aloe Vera. Stinging pain, so blotted it off and put on proctosedyl. Trying to sleep without Tramadol tonight.

Sat 2/11. Day 8. BM this morning when I woke up. Not painful to do, as usual, just pain afterwards. That same stinging at 4oclock position on my left. Bath, then did some jobs around the house, had an upsetting conversation with someone and cried myself to sleep. Woke at 1 feeling better. Just need to take this at my own pace. Made myself walk around the yard and house. Had a coffee and another BM. Bath, Same stinging, same spot. Tummy is grumbling like I have the runs today. Managed a quiet afternoon of housework reading and trying to feel positive. Ate more for dinner than i have all week, fingers crossed that's ok. Movicol tonight then bed.

Sun 3/11. day 9. BM immediately on waking. I get no notice- just have to GO! Liquid, whixh is fine cominf out but stings aftet. Still the same stinging pain, relieved a bit on bathing, but it returns as soon as I'm out of the bath. It feels like a wound stingibg, not a muscle pain. Lay down and let the area air out a bit this morning for half an hour. Procrosedyl, aloe and coconut oil on it. Did a bunch of housework in preparation for afternoon visitors and the week ahead. Another BM at 1115, so liquidy. Sat in the bath again. Wondering how to manage these middle of the day BMs. when back at work next week. I cant just go whwnever i want, so hoping the urgebcy subsides by then. Maybe a bag with thermos of hot water and wash cloths in it to hold against the area after a BM in lieu of a bath. Anyone else got suggestions? Family stuff all afternoon. Turns out sitting is NOT comfy at all yet. I have to Perth on one cheek. Another small BM with lots of explosive gas at 1830 and another bath. So sick of the bath. Ate badly today (cake, pastries, more cake) so am worried how that will go tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Mon 4/11. Day 10. Not much change today. BM within an hour if waking and so much stinging afterwards. It's like a burning sting, and about 5/10 plan wise. Retractable shower head helps, i think. As does a warm bath afterwards. I did the school run today for the first time and then went to the doctor. All healing well, although she said there's a couple of spots not healed yet. She could see a little thrombosis but didn't seem concerned. Said to put nothing on it all, but I'm going to continue the routine I have. Spent 3 hours in and out of the car, so pretty sore tonight (constant stinging). Warm salt bath again. I probably could have returned to work today, but I'm so glad I have another week off to lie around and just recover. Tonight was ibuprofen, movicol and half a coloxyl. Only one BM today so I'm hoping to replicate that tomorrow.

Tue 5/11. day 11. BM a bit harder this morning and left me feeling like there was more there. So probably movicol and one coloxyl is my happy medium for now. Same stinging pain afterwards. Realised I have minimal wound discharge and have had no blood for a few days, even on BM. Had to have two short drives today. Painful to sit, like I can feel the wounds opening as I put pressure on them. Overall, a good day, sitting dor a bit longer on soft chairs, although i have to sit sideways after a minute or two to relieve the pressure on the wounds. Even feeling a bit guilty for not being at work. I've been eating a little bit more, but the chocolate milkshake yesterday was a dumb idea, so I need to watch what I'm consuming. I've lost 2kg over 12 days, which is a bonus. Would be nice to keep it off. Bedtime had 1 movicol and 2 coloxyl to balance out today's efforts.

Wed 6/11. Day 12. Woke and had a BM within about 5 minutes. First bit felt more formed and hard. When I looked down at the end of it all, there was blood in the bowl and a couple of drops of blood fell in as I watched. Damnit. After feeling so good yesterday, this happens. I cleaned up (my routine is first wipe carefully with soft TP a couple of times, then a warn wet washer, then shower with moveable shower nozzle, then warm salt bath- a thirty second BM takes me 15 minutes to clean up). Had a look with the mirror. All very red and a bit swollen around the incisions, but i did just have a hot bath. The little thrombosis on the wound at 6oclock looks less dark now, so hopefully that means it's resolving. Got the kids off to school then did some work that the office has been asking for. Managed to lie down for about an hour and a half after that. Second BM at 1245 with no blood, so not sure what happened this morning. Maybe the harder bit of BM stretched the wounds too much. Same pain after second BM. Cleaned with TP and washer then into the bath. Trying to limit the bath to just 10 mins now in case it's not helping the healing. Ok afternoon, just trying to rest before I have to go back to work. Only putting coconut oil and aloe on now in the hope the studies are right and it helps healing.

Thu 7/11. Day 13. Same start to the day as previously. BM, pain, time consuming clean up. Had a walk mid morning and pretty sore after, but headed off in the car anyway for a 2 hour trip. Afternoon on the couch with pinching pain. Bath in the evening to relieve the discomfort. Had a look and while everything seems to have settled, there's still two big wounds. They don't look inflamed, just there. Praying they heal soon and the swollen lumpy bits of them resolve rather than becoming skin tags. Early to bed with a dragging, achy sensation. Positives- no bleeding today that I noticed.

Thank you for detailing your experience day by day. I’m pretty sure I need LIS to fully heal myself. I’ve been suffering off and on for 3 years and no matter what I do I haven’t felt completely “normal” down there. I think even though I’ve healed my fissure the problem lies with a tight sphincter that are causing minor tears inside that heal over time but come back so easy.

@northwestjen you're so welcome. I don't know if it's the LIS site or the hemorrhoidectomy still bothering me 2w later, or maybe a combination of both. But having had both at once, I'm SURE the LIS recovery wouldn't be as bad without the other stuff having been done, if that makes sense. While I didn't have a fissure he could see, the CRS decided on a sphincterotomy to help reduce the tone of the muscles which he thinks was causing the hems to keep flaring up and causing other rectal pain I had.

Fri 8/11, day 14. Should be the day I feel magically healed, the 2 week mark. Well, not quite there yet. This morning was 2 BM within about half an hour of each other. I misread my body's signals and probably didn't need to go the first time. But I think the LIS has changed my urges. Shower, bath, then a walk and, biggest mistake, 2hours in a hard chair. I feel like the lumps are swollen. They're achy and so uncomfortable. I'm so fed up today.

Sat 9/11. DAY 15. same as usual morning routine. Two BM's qand had a shower and bath after the second one. I think getting up late delayed it all and messed me up a bit. Lots of wind today and a third BM at about 1pm. Nothing unusual or changed to report really. Managed to sit for quite a while in the car with barely any pain, which is a positive. Thinking routine is the key at this stage- if i can get up early, at the same time, i should be all done with the BM and bath routine before work. I also think my body tends to hold on until I get home, at least, i hope that's what continues when I'm back at work. Portable bidet squeeze bottle hasn't arrived yet and i can't imagine a work BM without something like that.

Sun 10/11. DAY 16. This morning all as normal. Up a bit late again, but BM was fine. Two BMs with stinging afterwards but a 10 minute bath helped. Minimal pain all day until another BM at 5pm. Felt like something small popped or ripped down there, like a wound coming open maybe? Blood in the loo (TMI- looked like a spatter, as though something had popped in there) as well as a streak of blood along the stool. I just pray this isn't new internal hemorrhoids? Wiped, held a warm washer there for a bit for the pain, then had a look but couldn't see anything besides the usual lumps and two unhealed wounds. Speaking of, it's starting to worry me that they look they same as they did a week ago. Shouldn't they be healing faster? Going to head to bed early tonight ready for return to work tomorrow.

How are you feeling now? It’s been about 10 days since you posted last.

I saw my CRS today who is recommending me to a more specialized CRS for women. I’m waiting to get a second opinion on LIS.
