Interesting you say that Amychristine. I can't see why anyone would take the surgeon they are told to go to. Way too many horror stories on here. I was able to choose my CRS because I pay for insurance. For me it was worth it as he clearly knew what he was doing. I went to a surgeon who teaches others how to do the LIS. It is frustrating if they suggest something else before doing what you may prefer. On the other hand they see this everyday so they may know a bit more about it.

I know what you mean that’s why I did research and tried to find someone good. It’s hard everyone’s medical systems are so different around the world. I was able to choose my surgeon but the waiting time took almost 2 years because my issue wasn’t urgent. I bet I coulda got in sooner privately had I paid for it but I didn’t look into that too much.

Wow! Almost two YEARS??!! I waited almost 2 months.

Yeah even the people in town have a late wait too like 1-2 years. I think it’s partially because of covid too because it’s not normally that long. Things are kinda strict here in Canada.

Amychristine so you did have your tone tested first? What did it show?

Just for me to have this consultation I've waited 1 year here in nz if i say lets do it at this appointment I'm not sure how long I'd have to wait for the actual surgery. I'm going to try get the best surgeon available one who does both health system an private and if i can't manipulate the situation to suit me an put me at ease I'll go private because then I'll be confident and my mind will be calm. I don't want just anyone doing lis on me no way

She just did an exam where she inserted her finger. She’s said you have good tone and I asked does that mean that I am a good candidate for surgery and she said yes. Basically there’s less of a chance of incontinence. After surgery she said that it was super tight down there as well so no wonder the fissure wasn’t healing. I remember talking to Rich44 on here before surgery and his dr did actual tests to check for that but clearly only some specialists offer it. So that’s a long wait as well. Good news is it’ll likely be less of a wait to get into surgery after you see the surgeon. Mine was only about 4 months.

From my understanding on what I’ve read when we spasm from a fissure it can make the area tighter. So previous flare ups from the fissure are one factor that likely contribute to the tightness of that muscle. I also think pelvic floor issues, genetics, etc, can play a part as well.

I wonder if my pelvic floor is overtly tight. I've read some stuff on here about that. I jave had 3 kids so surely my pelvic floor can't be overly tight lol.

Oh my gosh just got a call from the clinic were my appointment is ment to be on Monday I've got it organised baby sitter an partner has got the day off to come with me and turns oit i waited a whole year for what is now being reclassified as a phone consultation!!!!!!! 1 year for a ph call. I need to go private this must be a sign.
