The ointment I used for irritation/burning in the past was called calmoseptine ointment. It is a GODSEND! Image It totally calms all irritation for hours. Here is the website http://www.calmoseptineointment.com/
I wish you the best at your appointment Lars! :cherries:

Thanks Jen - some things are worth posting again and again Image - one never knows who might be helped with it - actually, after I asked I thought - hey, maybe I should try it too Image

I had intense burning after one of my botox shots. it was really unrelated to anything. It took about 3 mos to calm down. I blame it on a CRS who injected too near a hemmie.
Still, I'd get it checked out. I also had an infection inthe area that stung constantly too. The dr (idiot) that I was going to at the time didn't believe it was an infection (again). I was like, "Oh yeah?? well then, why did the anti-biotics clear up the pain and burning."
So you'll have to figure out whether this is coming from an injection site next to the fissure or from the fissure itself.

Hey
Thanks for all the advice :)
I could of course not find calmoseptine ointment in Norway :(
I to have thought about an infection i in the rectum. How is this diagnosted?
Maybe it is the botox shots who burns/is the sharp pain. I have an appointment with my CRS 07.07.08. I have to wait unti then...
If feel it is very strange that I have some much discomfort if the fissure is almost healed..
I am thinking to buy my first house but I am very worryed that my ass will continue to hurt forever. Then I will lose my job)I am not much at work) :(

You can probably get it from walgrens.com

Wow. July seesm like a long way away. Did you stress that you might have an infection? sometimes that helps with drs over here in the US. They don't want to see you go septic.
I know what you mean about the worry. After over 2 years of pain, I finally feel like I am on a healing path. I thought i would never find that path. Did you have LIS already?...I'm sorry I can't remember.

Lars -
You will get better. It may take some time but it will happen. I suffered for 15 months before I had relief. I truely believe it is all about finding the right doctor for you. I saw so many doctors, and it was not until my current CRS, that my healing started.
That appointment does seem far off - can you make an appointment with another doctor in the meantime for another opinion?

No i have not had LIS. My CRS don`t think it will help me...
Jen: What did your CRS do for you so you became better?
I have to go to another county to get another opinion and that takes that`s alot of time. I will talk to my doctor in 2 weeks so she can send me another place.
Is it possible that I could have and infection together with the fissure(even if is`t healed) in my rectum that is making it hurt/discomfort? Maybe I shold have antibiotics :)

I think antibiotics may be worth a try, then if it is an infection it will calm things down. I've been on metronidazole for a month nearly now, and I'm kinda scared to stop them as they have really helped the pain. Can you get an emergency appointment with your gp and get him/her to do something for the pain?

Yes, Lars, you can have infection even if the fissure is "closed". Sometimes it closes on the surface but is not closed deep inside and that is the perfect place for bacteria to grow : (. You might want to read Dano's story- he had that happen!
Best of luck ! I am glad you are now more proactive and will demand better care.

Lars,
My newest doctor thought maybe my internal hemmies were causing my fissure to retare due to anal swelling. I thought he was crazy at the time, but I think he is onto something. After removing 3 hemmies with rubber band ligation, the fissure has finally started to heal. Also, he put me on nitro. Another CRS put me on nifedipine, which I was on 2 months for and it did nothing for me.
Can you make an appointment with your family doctor? It seams that MOST infections can be diagnosed with an anoscope.
I wish you all the best! I hope you don't have to wait to muchlonger to see a doctor!
