Look for anything with psyllium. That is usually a good place to start. Also fiber enriched cereal has been a godsend to me in getting my bowels right.

Hang in there. You can have a really bad day today but it doesn't mean that tomorrow won't be better.

Lecia: Yes I think I will begin eating alot more fiber enriched cereals. Good damn fissure! Had blood on the stools for the second time running today and much pain. I have to drive an hour to work every day and that sets of the spasm pain I think. Worst in months/week today.
Jen: What did all the others doctors tell you when you had a fissure? Did they not see the hemmies? Have you had LIS?
I am constant looking for options. Tomorrow I will call a private hospital in Oslo to hear if they operate on fissures.

Hi Lars. I"m so sorry to hear about your rough day. my bum twinged in sympathy. I personally have the best luck with soluable fiber, like glucomannan or maltodextrin or inulin. Those keep the poo soft and smooth. Do you have those there? (Ilisted ingredients because I'm sure the brand names will be different.)

Lars -
I am sorry about your terrible day! Image I really hope things look up soon. Did you get an appointment with your family doctor yet? Or what about that hospital in Oslo? Keep us updated and try to hang in there!
I was misdiagnosed for about a year. The doctors kept telling me I had internal hemmies and they were causing me pain. No one wanted to remove the hemmies because I want more kids and they worsen with labor. Everyone told me to live with it. Come to think of it, no one ever even put an anoscope in my bum. They only did a digital exam. I didn't know any better either, I thought the doctors were right until one day, I had a painful BM, and decided to look at myself with a mirror. I saw it - a FISSURE! I had no idea what it was at the time, but I new my butt was torn. It can be easily seen from the ouside. After some internet research, I diagnosed myself with a fissure and made another appointment. I told my doctor what I had and she used an anoscope on me. She did not see anything again. My fissure would close fast and was hard to diagnosed. I demanded to go to a CRS and I was finally diagnosed after 13 months of hell! I am now on my second CRS and I am happy with him so far.
Please hang in there friend! I get down on myself too - I was crying yesterday. There have been so many people on the boards that have come and gone and have been healed. That will be us too! Image

I think all the driving is excacerbating things immensely. Can you take a leave of absence at all from work?

I am sorry to hear you are bleeding again. :(

Today I work at home office. I do not have the spasm pain so far just the soreness from the fissure. The problem at work is that I just have a contract that expire in december. If I am sick much(something I have been because off the fissure) I don`t get a renew of it. So I have a big problem. 1 hour drive after just having a BM is not good. Always go about 8-9 in the morning. It causes alot more pain/discomfort than usual. Usualy feel better in the weekends when not working. I work at a office and sit 7,5 hours a day :( Little bleeding today but some...
I have a appointment on monday with my family doctor.

That's good you have an appointment. I find my better days are the ones that I have a very soft BM-I mean, very, very soft like one step away from diarhhea. Can you try some magnesium at night before you go to bed? Maybe start with 400 mg and see how that works for you?

I agree, Lecia. Best to keep things really, really soft in order to help with healing.

super soft bm was the only thing that made the fissure tolerable pre-LIS.

Dear Lars,
I wondering if your doctor can give you a softner while things are bad, In the UK they give fybogel which adds bulk (Might be tricky if you are sore) or movicol which just makes thing so much easyier, maybe its worth mentioning to your GP !
Good luck for Monday
