BA,
Get a mental picture in your mind of yourself out on the golf course hitting a golf ball. I think it is important to "picturize" events we want to occur as N. Vincent Peal says in his audio book. But don't "picturize" yourself missing it as I did in my league last Friday, and unfortunately, my friend was present as a "witness," so I had to count it. I probably would have anyway, but I didn't like having a witness to the event.

Hello all. I think I jinxed myself yesterday as this has been a horrible morning. Two very painful BM's preceeded by a restless night. Needless to say I am a little down and totally exhausted physically and mentally.
Lecia was right when she said
"Healing from anorectal sugery is not linear and you will have a lot of ups and downs."
As far as peaks and valleys go I feel like Im at the bottom of the Grand Canyon.
Cheryl thank you for the Norman Vincent Peale quote. I know him well and have read his books. I will never forget when I got his book "The Power of Enthusiasm" I was thinking about dropping out of college because I didn't think I could do it. My Mom sent me that book and It made all the difference in the world.
Right now I wish I had that copy (I have since passed it on to another) as I most definitely could use its wisdom. Im fighting my way out of this valley but it is soo difficult after so many days and weeks of fighting. I so long for my pain free life.
Next time someone calls me a pain in the ass I will be able to look at them and say not nearly...you have no idea. Im down but Im not out. Sorry for all the venting BA

Sorry, bro! I know those peaks and valleys so well. The other day I found myself singing, "Jesus walked this lonesome valley" and I had not heard that song for years.

When you are having a bad moment just hang on because you will be heading up soon.

I read Norman Vincent Peale quite voraciously for awhile. I wish I still had all of the material. It did really help to focus my mind on the positive. Perhaps we should all do a workbook together.

But be cheered, the fact that you have had good moments means that your bottom is capable of it and it will return. You actually are doing wonderfully. I did not get a reduction in pain for about 2 weeks and the first 4 days I was incapicitated. You are up and about, walking, chatting with us (doesn't that hurt your bum?)

I want some Peace in the house too. I really want a puppy or kitty to hold on to when I feel down.

You are doing better than you think, don't get discouraged!

BA,
Your attitude is an inspiration to me. I try to listen to the Power of Positive Thinking audio books in my home and in my car. Will check out the book you referenced as I had not b/4 year of it.

BA - I am so sorry : ( ,but Lecia knows the best how rough is the recovery from such extensive surgery. I know that it sounds crazy - but you are doing great if you take in consideration that you are "just out" of the operation room and that yesterday you had such a great day - it will be that way again - just try to take it easy today :(. Rest and eat nice soft food and watch something funny on TV ! Do anything that might take your mind away from pain at least for a minute at a time : (. Hang in BA !!!! Tomorrow may be great day again !
Lecia- I also crave for a pet : (, but I just know I would not have enough energy for it : (((
Who is the guy in the siggy ; ))) - how very cuuuuuuuuuuute - maybe he can be my pet LOL if you do not mind he he, or we can share Image
