lars, force farting is the worst!!!! i think that aggrevated my fissure when i had it and it even aggrevated Laverne and Shirley.
i can tell you once you learn to fart with peace (don't force it), then things will get lots better.

Hallo all
Kim: I didn`t understand quite what you ment? Do you think that there is another reason for my pain?
This totaly freaked me out....

Rarely, a spasm of the levator ani muscles, also known as proctalgia fugax, can be associated with chronic anal fissures. This condition may contribute to lack of healing of fissures... or may be caused by it.
If I have levator ani there is nothing that can help me :(

You aren't without hope! There are treatments for levator ani syndrome. Medications like elavil, neurontin can help as well as physical therapy, massage and biofeedback, botox and electric stimulation.

I am not even suggesting that you have this but just trying to reassure you that you have not exhausted your options in getting over this.

Here is a link I found that summed things up nicely, but it does have some advertising for a product so it may not be the best since they are selling something but I found it interesting.

What I was trying to say was *IF* you have a fissure and a tight anal sphincter, the LIS will probably, in all likelihood, heal the fissure, regardless of whether you have spasms or not. Spasms are not the only reason to have the LIS.
Constricted blood flow to the fissure site is why it doesn't heal, and that is because you are too tight, from having read your posts.

Lars -
My family doctor originally thought I had levator ani syndrome. However, both my CRS said I did not have it. People go to physical therapy for this.

Thanks for all the feedback.
I was at my family doctor today. I asked to be sent to another hospital for second opinion. It is a 3,5 hour drive to another county.
Jen: how did your CRS rule out levator ani syndrome?
I guess I must be extereme unlucky to have gotten both a fissure and levator ani syndrome at the same time so I try not to think about that. I was complety pain and discomfort free before the fissure broke loose.
Reading about levator ani syndrome says it feels like a ball in the rectum or high rectal pain. My pain is nowhere like that. I hurt just inside my anus :)

Lars - I don't think you have LA problem - your description of the pain is so typical for a fissure and spasms , and LA is much more common with women than men, so I would really stop worrying about that if I were you.
You have a "tight butt" ,that is all ! LIS would fix that in 10 min., but you are right to explore all options and try everything before undergoing the procedure. Just don't wait forever since constant pain can do a lot of damage to the whole body : ( !
Best of luck !

Thank you for the kind words Fissulyna :)
You are right about the damage done to the whole body. I have lost a lot of pounds since the beast came. I was a well trained and healty person. I have had to retire my soccer career and my jogging.
I am going to try diltazem for a while to see if that can make me looser down there. Everything is worth a shot :)

You are welcome Lars Image !!!
I lost more than 20 pounds in 5 month period and was not big to begin with, so it was VERY scary and I know how you feel. I lost a lot of muscle mass too, and I needed about 4 months to regain my weight back. All will be well once that fissure is gone, this way or another Image !
All the best and good luck on your next appointment !
