Hi Pinky - soooo sorry you are not feeling well yet and I can completely relate to your feelings regarding your family and especially your mother. One of the biggest reasons I am depressed is the fact that I did not see my Mom in now almost 3 years and she is not well either. She can not travel , and I can not go to take care of her or even see her and just this morning I was crying my eyes out thinking that perhaps she might leave this world I will never ever see her again.
Please go and see your doctor again - and I wish you very fast and a complete recovery ! Can some of your aunts come to help for a while? Did you ever conceder going to India for a treatment ? I found a bunch of medical research papers done by Indian doctors about fissures and colorectal problems and they seem to be ahead of the most that is done "on the West". Look into "reference" topic- I have one posted. I posted another one 2 weeks ago but it got deleted somehow. It talks about "manual dilation" - where doctors do dilation using their fingers and can feel exactly when the muscle relaxes - so there is no potential for incontinence !!! And so forth... I have to finish the post - would hate to loose it - please take care and know that you are not alone in pain - physical or emotional
here - I know that it is even more depressing but - it is comforting to know that somebody truly understands ...
All the best !

My Mom lives in Europe - so it is about 11 hour flight just for me to reach the continent and with connecting flights it is usually close to 24 hour ordeal. I am afraid to travel that far and to small country that does not have none of the stool softeners ( I guess - they never are constipated LOL). Also, She is very ill and I want to take care of her and can not in this pain - I can hardly take care of myself . I got fissure last summer, still have issues and so - 2 seasons passed without me going and I pray to God I heal before next summer or I will just go nuts ...
Glad to hear you feel better today ! Still, see your CRS please, you don't want to go on and off the antibiotics without clearing that stuff - you might develop resistant strain of bacteria Image Image - I hope you know that ! Foul smell is not a good Image or normal .
All the best !

Pinky, I'll second what Fissy says, are you taking a second batch of antibiotics, or restarting the first lot?? I think you should get a doctor to have a look just in case. Although normal GP's often dont know what they are looking for, I had a fistula and was told I didn't even have a fissure let alone an infection, but I knew I did and the GP was wrong. A CRS would be a better person to see.
Thanks, my neck is worse today as a table collapsed yesterday and I instinctively caught it- not a good move!! I got the actual surgery date through today-23rd october Image Image
Fissy, I'm so terribly sorry that you cant go and see your mum. I pray that you get better soon and can make that trip.

Fiss, its very sad and i hope you will see her soon.i was given cephalosporins last thursday as they couldnt find any abscess and didnt know what was wrong.cefradine caused severe diarrohea, upto 6-7times a day.so, after taing for 4 days i stopped it.its usually anaerobes there which cause the infection for which metronidazole is enough.ill be seeing my crs on tuesday.i agree with you val, regarding gps.i go to a gp and tell them what i want.its usually for prescriptions and investigations.i know better than them.most gps have no clue, especially in my gp surgery.ill tell hubby to have a look again.even he's a doctor.ive started itching.might be starting a fungal infection.
its good news val,u have the surgery date.wat a nightmare,a table falling on you.sorry you are in pain.hope you feel better tomorrow

Are you still on metronidazole? It might be good to keep taking it until you see your CRS. Tuesday is a long way off, is there no way you could ring him and ask his advice? Itching is another sign of infection. Hope you feel better soon Image
Thanks, I know its good to have the surgery date - i'm just terrified!!

juney wrote:if there's anything all of us have learned pinky, it's patience. i am SOOOOO fed up with these problems i can't even describe it, but we just have to be patient even when it feels like nothing will ever change

I'm sorry to say we can all second that one!!
Fiss...small countries...no stool softener?? We are quite small and we have stool softeners...so don't you come here and Image
I am so sorry you don't have family around you, and that you haven't made friends were you live now Pinky...but it will change. It will not be like this forever. Your little Image will grow up, you will get friends and you will get well... Happy days will come back again..... Don't give up when things are sad.

Thanks val and corsica Image .I have finally started to believe i will get better with time.I have to be patient. The pain after BMs is tolerable and nothing like pre LIS.my concern now is the leaking which is irritating my bum as its constantly wet.i keep cleaning as much as i can.i keep the tissue in between my butt which absorbs the leaking and then take it out.is it ok to do that or should i use wet wipes?all this will delay my healing.
Kim-How did u manage to keep your bum clean with leaking?for how many weeks did you have the leaking? Thanks.
val-thanks for the advice.even my hubby adviced me to continue metronidazole till tuesday.he doesnt want me to take any more chances with infection.I wanted to call my crs's secretary but hubby felt we shouldnt trouble him to ask about antibiotics as we are doctors.itching is less today.hope your pain is better today.
Corsica,i do believe my good time will come.i dream of the happy times and it makes me go on.how do you feel now?did you get an appointment to see your crs?
nice pic of your son.
