i guess i'm in a funk again. it's been almost 4 weeks and i'm still in pain. the swelling on the left side is a definite skin tag. it's been there for over 2 weeks now. it's painful and hard, just like the one i had 2 years ago which was the reason i saw dr in the first place! i'm frustrated and discouraged. there are still stitches hanging out so i know i'm still in the middle of the healing process, but i'm having a hard time staying positive. i don't want a skin tag after all the rest of this!! i know those can cause a lot of pain and problems by themselves and i just don't want to have to deal with anything else. i'm so depressed. i'm still not sitting much at all but when i do it's painful all day. i know i needed the surgery but i'm definitely regretting it now. at least i could function normally before. i've barely left my house in 4 weeks and i'm so depressed i just want to cry all the time. i knew it would be a long healing process but i'm so discouraged. guess i just needed to vent a little :(

Juney -
Oh sweetie! Please don't feel down!!! Image I know that is easier said than done, because I feel down at times too.
Please remember that everywhere I have read, it takes 12 weeks for this type of surgery to heal. You may not even have a skin tag - maybe it is just swelling and inflammation, which is not a bad thing as it causes the blood cells to migrate to the area to aid in healing.
What did the doctor say? When is your next visit? When will the sutures disolve?
Try to compare your small amount of pain now to your pain that first week post op. I know it has improved.
How is the benefiber working for you? I have been taking it and I wish I would have taken it years ago. It makes my BM's perfect - formed, yet soft, and no explosiveness so far. I think I am going to go ahead and buy the big bulk container at Costco and commit myself to it for life.
All will be well Juney. Please give it more time. Until then, I am here by your side - healing with you sister! :sprinkleheart:
:nevergive:

juney,
big big hugs for you this saturday and every time you feel discouraged!!!!
there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
fwiw, i still have Laverne and Shirley (my skin tag) and well, i ain't getting rid of it and i will deal with it. L&S is still there but it has been very very good despite being able to feel it.
i just am mindful of trying not to pass gas with wild abandon and irritate the hell out of it.
so don't feel too bad about having a skin tag. i think it's okay.

Oh Juney,so sorry to know your are still in pain.Dont regret having the surgery.why do you want to suffer with symptoms when you can get it cured?i know its very hard being patient but you have to.even i feel low at times and dont know how ill cope and whether this fissure will heal.as jen said, you should compare your pain to the first week and be positive.thats what i do and feel better.why dont you get it checked by your CRS if everything's fine down there?when is your next appointment?you will heal.you are in my prayers

thanks for the reassurance everyone. Image sometimes that's just what i need. i have my next appt on tuesday. last time the dr said something about "snipping off the skin tag" once we know that's what it really is but i'm actually hesitant to do that since i've heard all the horror stories. i read somewhere else on the internet, Jack's Board or something, that one guy had a skin tag following fissurectomy and it withered away in about 6 months. i'm just frustrated cuz i can't tell where my pain is coming from now. i wish i could see the fissure and know it's healing! the dr will use a scope on tuesday so at least he can get a better idea. i'm nervous about that though!
i guess i'm just being a baby and not being patient enough. i need to try and move on and just trust that it's healing. laying around the house everyday is only adding to my depression i know.
jen - i'm not sure when the stitches dissolve, i read on the internet anytime between 6-8 weeks. i can tell there are less than there used to be hanging out. and i'm still using benefiber, only 1 teaspoon a day. i like it too. i'm also using 2 stool softeners and 250mg magnesium. No more MOM! LOL. i'm slowly stopping the mineral oil. i'm at 1/2 tablespoon now but might not use any tonight.
i'm gonna try and be "normal" today to get my mind off it. maybe even leave the house for awhile. LOL.
