Hope it is better by then. This will resolve and you will be ok.

Hi, hope things get better soon. Be careful with the donut to sit on. My CRS told me not to use them because they tend to spread your cheeks apart and you don't want to do that with a fissure or if you're prone to them. Suzy

I think the donut is helpful for hemroids, but probably not for AF's, like Suzy stated. When I used mine, I did not yet have an AF!!

One month Update-
Things seem to be going well. I was able to go on my vacation. Besides some pain while sitting in an airplane seat for four hours, I really was able to mostly enjoy my vacation. The thrombosed hemorrhoid is still causing me quite a considerable amount of pain, the anusol and the lidocaine do not seem to be helping at all. I have stopped using the anusol since I read that you are not supposed to use it more than ten days at a time.
Anyway, I thought things were going really well until last night. After walking home from work, I had a movement that went actually pretty smoothly. Now I am used to some discomfort from the hemorrhoid after I have a movement but about 20 minutes after this one I had the all too familiar feeling of a spasm. After enduring the pain for about twenty minutes I had no choice but to put some nitro cream down there. The spasm eventually went away and I was able to sleep fine. But I am just a little frustrated since I thought for sure my fissure would be healed by now and all I had to worry about was the hemorrhoid.
Also, I have had this thrombosed hemorrhoid for about two weeks now, when do you think it would be good to talk to my CRS about potentially having surgery on it? In march, I am traveling a lot for work, and I want all these problems to be gone by then.
Thanks everyone!

I think they can lance hemrroids to relieve the pressure of them. Good luck!

Is there anyway possible that the hemorrhoids caused the spasm feeling? I don't know if I can handle the thought of the fissure coming back.

Just got back from my one month check-up with my CRS.
The hemmorhoid has gone away thankfully, but the pain I am experiencing is still from that fissure. He said I am about 60-70% healed. At this point I thought that i would be healed up but I guess not. It is partly my fault since for about two weeks I have stopped using the 2% nifidepine and doing sitz baths.
He said if it is still uncomfortable to sit after about 2-3 more weeks, then he will put me in for a dilation procedure. Hopefully it will not get to that.
This is really getting frustrating :(

my goodness rusty you have been through a lot.
one thing i haven't seen in this post yet is the consensus that after LIS surgery, you can expect to have 6-8 months of recovery time.
and even so, it will be about anywhere from a year to almost 2 years to feel back to normal.
i hope you are successful in healing but i also hope that you are able to just let time do its thing. i know you have work stuff and other stuff and this just gets in the way, but worrying and having a distressed feeling won't help the healing process.
good luck.
and yes, i hate those hemmies! they can be quite a challenge.

Rusty - give it a time !!! AND be diligent with baths (soaks) and keeping poop soft and you will heal ! You are just 8 weeks post-op !!!! Your fissure is closed 70 %- so 4 more weeks perhaps !!!??? ; ) I know that every week looks like eternity , but be patient ! Everybody has a different healing rate and your is not fast - but is not that bad either ; ) I think that dilation in just 2 weeks is really not good idea IMO. Your sphincter is still healing - why STRETCH it ???? I do not like dilation - period (brrrrrrrrr....). It can really make outer sphincter weaker : (. I would give it 6 mos, and THAN asses the situation again. If anything - I would go for a second LIS if he finds out that you are still too tight !!!
Best of luck !!!!

Rusty,
Maybe you can concentrate on what you can do each day that you couldn't do b/4 the surgery, and that way you can give your body time to heal as Fiss indicates. Good luck!
